I’m shipping my car to Florida.
I signed a contract to go after December 14.
There is a delay; the agent just texted me : “4,000 vehicles were shipped last week, and 7,000 are still waiting to be picked up. This is insane, some people are paying $6,000 and their cars aren’t getting picked up either!”
Broke people don’t pay 1-6 grand to ship their car; this is a middle class exodus of people who have some money.
I’m making a popular move evidently.
Edit: I don’t know where all of the cars are going to, just that they’re departing California.

quadruple the quantity of people.

that is quite possible with reversal of Trump policies.
16   Ceffer   2020 Dec 18, 1:24pm

California is like meteor hitting a huge pile of shit and splattering it all over the rest of the country.

Like I said, you now have to compete to leave the place with the confiscators of the Great Socialist Paradise in your tail wind.

So you’re saying now might be a good time to get into the Hot Shot Trucking Biz??? I’ve got a Duramax that I could use, just need to get my license for it....
18   indc   2020 Dec 18, 1:36pm

What happened to all those driverless trucks. Cant they move cars?

Only people staying in CA are people that have never known anything else, you know the kind we all had that friend that never really left his town or block for that matter.

Yep. I'm one of those. Most of my homies have left the Bay Area over the decades, replaced/displaced by H-1's from rich Asian families. Most of the migration has been to outlying areas, sort of an arc extending from Santa Rosa to Yuba City to Folsom to Stockton to Fresno. Others to Oregon, Reno area, Phoenix area. One each near to family in Atlanta and Houston. Those latter two, both African Americans. Yeah yeah, I know: eubonics and street violence blah blah. For every one of those you guys complain about, there's scores of everyday workaday blacks who work hard and achieve, adding much to our state. And like with the other races, getting pushed out of coastal California by H1's from rich families and illegals.

SunnyvaleCA says
For every person fleeing the state, there are 2 or 3 H1Bs coming in. If you're from a big city in India or China, silicon valley looks practically empty; we could quadruple the quantity of people.

Both of the comments I quoted have been true at the same time.

Someone remarked on a different thread that it won't make sense for the big companies to put their H-1's here. I agree with that also.

The H-1's covet to live in the ethnic enclaves earlier H-1's created here on the Left Coast, which compared to where they came from are the Wide Open Spaces at Bargain Prices. But they covet the H1 more than the Bay Area (or Vancouver/L.A./Seattle) address. They will follow the H-1 hiring trend for new hires, likely to be increasingly outside of California.

Smaller companies still here in the Bay Area mostly don't have the resources to sponsor H1's.

On a related topic, I've lived in working class blue collar neighborhoods in SJ my whole life. The kinds of neighborhoods that used to be full of kids. Even when my kids were kids, 20-30 years ago. Most of these neighborhoods have emptied out of children.

We're doomed.

I'm still here in NorCal because I can play golf in December (and January, and February) in a sweater. And don't tell me I can do that in Florida, because in the summer the humidity is like 100% and that's a non-starter. If you can give me another location with a similar Mediterranean climate in the Continental USA with lower cost of living, I'm listening.
21   clambo   2020 Dec 18, 4:03pm

Shaman, I like your concept.
70s ethic for female hitchhiker: "gas, grass or ass; nobody rides for free."
I'll have to get some warm stuff at Goodwill if I do drive.
Rocket Joe is correct, California has a superior climate.
When it starts to rain heavily (summer), I will go to Baja Sur Mexico for the nicer weather.
I was not going to be in N. California for a few months each winter either way, so it's okay.
I complained to a female in Florida how the rain will drive me nuts; she said she would help me forget the weather.

Who's going to replace you?

That's ridiculous. "Public servants" shouldn't suffer, but there is no excuse for these leaches making these obscene amounts.

Wait, there's another state in the US with summer weather all year long, access to the ocean, and NO state taxes or plandemic panic!?

I have relatives in Florida. Outside of the cities you get a sense of some really nice southern country charm, even in Florida. Enjoy man!

I always think about how embarrassing Black Urban Culture and Black Victimology must be to these folks. To bad there is no avenue for them to speak up without being tarred and silenced with "UNCLE TOM!" and COON!" I think it must be an impossible situation, because you really don't hear a peep out of them.

Bay Area is correct that California is superior.
“Home prices” going up is a bit meaningless because all of my friends in California can’t figure out how to get their hands on the equity in their place.
ONE guy did in San Diego; he rents out his place near la Jolla and lives with his (hagged out) girlfriend in the hills east of San Diego somewhere. It’s hotter than hades there in the warm months.

Yep. "House poor".

All that money spent over the years in interest payments and property taxes, to say nothing of the principal amount, are not available for childcare or tuition or retirement savings/investing or hobbies or travel or toys. Because of the horrible traffic and congestion transportation costs are higher here. This is changing with the work from home trend. But for those who must work at a workplace commuting is necessary. The higher transportation cost is actually a part of their housing cost, but they won't see it that way.
It's a Hamster Wheel life.

You used to be able to deduct a lot of your housing expense from your federally taxable income. ®ealtors told me how savvy it is, to have the interest payments and property taxes deducted from income.

What's left is climate and nature in most of CA. There used to be so much more. Prices are distorted due to prop 13 and too many Chinese and Indians and Illegals and yet stalling or falling. It's always a special place but will continue to decline under leftoids. Napa is still nice. Maybe there will be a reset for the better.

Not going to happen. These major fires burn all the fuel. You can't burn an already burned forest. 2 months of smoke max.

We are going back to AZ soon. It was nice in AZ during our vacation in December (5300 ft elevation, lots of trails, lakes, lots to see). We took the dog out in the morning (below 20degrees) and had a blast.
On our way back we both agreed to be happy to pay the sunshine tax. I ride my MTB wearing short sleeves pretty much all year long here in CA.

Climate is hard to beat for sure. AZ has nice areas, Flagstaff is awesome, Scottsdale decent as well. Phoenix area is good for a fall to spring place.

I heard pine, strawberry, Payson are hot markets. Lots of Californians moving there. Never been there but heard its really nice.

I like AZ a lot....met tons of nice people there and almost no Libtards. Thinking of buying an investment property in AZ.

I think it’s even more complex than that. A black man has a permanent stigma of association over his head with toxic black culture that the whole fucking world knows about thanks to Hollywood. Makes it harder to feel comfortable around people of other races, especially when you’re in the extreme minority. And people who make you feel comfortable are people you’re going to want to stick up for especially when it appears that other people dislike your kind. I think that’s why we have successful black people supporting ridiculously biased and unproductive causes like BLM style socialism and victim studies and defund the police. I suppose a few unwarranted stops with some harassment built in would be enough to sour most people towards the boys in blue.

I feel for the situation that good black people find themselves. Doesn’t make me want to say that all Black Lives Matter tho. I can’t say that about any race.

Some black/white talk is overly stupid on this site.
Blacks were unfairly treated and brought to US/other places by whites, arabs,"other blacks" and they have every right to call on this "crimes committed on them".

Anybody white or otherwise who don't recognize the "genocide/slavery" has no right to comment on morality.
Having said that, Things are much better now and targeting "random white guy" for crimes of others also have morality deficit.

The biggest problem is not racism in this country but foreign interference by CCP.
Filthy communists want people to fight each other and adopt some perverse culture which weaken the moral underpinnings of our citizens and create power vaccum, so that we fall to communism.

Blacks/Browns/Sikhs can go to China and taste some "non racist society" if they feel CCP will give them better deal.

I had a black coworker who went to Nigeria to visit a "kid" he "adopted" in one of those international relief agencies like we see advertise on late night TV.

He shared with me, that he was terrified the whole time he was there, because of his status of being an American (potential crime victim). He told me and others, that he is so grateful about the tragic events in past centuries that resulted in him being born here.

What are you trying to say?.. that “slavery” was good for blacks and their future generations.
This is kind of comments which boost the CCP talking points.

CCP is saying American democracy is rowdy and they have many COVID cases as they are too wild to follow the mask and other rules.
It is best for Americans to be enslaved by CCP so that future generations can benefit.

Use critical thinking please ... Will ya?

Bottom line we need better resource management. "Rake that forest".

Black culture in the west is a cancer. It's astounding the difference when you see a black raised outside of the control black culture or ones that have struggled to get here legally. Blacks in the west no matter what country drag other blacks down and I see no end to it.

You sure seem to know a lot about how a black person thinks.

Nope but I have the experience on many occasions and for long periods of time of being the only white guy. It’s alienating to a subtle degree even when those around you are reasonably friendly. So I can extrapolate that to the black person’s experience of being the only person of their race in a job or whatever. Somethings like very close relationships with someone or another race can cut through those feelings of alienation. I think racial preference for ones own race is built into us. Although it’s a comparatively weak force alongside stronger forces like personality compatibility, physical attraction, and intellectual stimulation.
But between people who have none of these stronger factors established, it’s going to be a significant factor in whether any further relationship develops.

I’d like to have more black friends. I seem to get along with black people very well when they’re willing to see past my skin color. But so many are scarred by histories of racism that they don’t feel comfortable around white people.
I’ve had older black guys act challengingly to me at first but when they get to know me they’re like”I guess you’re alright.” I don’t know. It’s sad that this is the world we live in where people don’t even want to give you a chance if you aren’t like them.

My youngest daughter’s best friend is a black girl. Her parents have been wary of us, but over time they’ve come to accept us more. I hope the relationship continues to improve, as I like them and think they’re good people. They’ve just grown up in the LA area and have the scars...

I'm white (and black and SE Asian And E Asia) but 95% white so nobody would ever know about the minority by looking at me. I recognize the slavery but not the genocide. I think that word gets abused more than 'decimated'.

It implies one group tried to completely extinguish another group so no man, woman or child from that ethnicity existed anymore. As far as I know white people have only tried that twice in the past few hundred years: Germans vs. Jews and Americans vs. Filipinos. I'm sure there are more that I'm unaware of but that never happened to black people or natives in America.

I've heard of Africans trying to genocide each other in Africa however.

Despite the fact that whites are disappearing quickly so far nobody has genocided us and I doubt that will happen. We'll disappear for sure but through inter-marriage / inter-breading our genes will live on in others much like many of us have Neanderthal genes today. That's not genocide. By mass there is more native American DNA in North America than there was 500 years ago.

We just had a BAT (Bay Area Transplant) move into our very conservative gated community up in the NorCal foothills. Boy did he get a surprise. He wanted to put a pool, a big deck and some other shit on the brand-new house. Unfortunately, he ran into the buzz saw of our HOA committee who politely told him to go fuck himself. The lot was already too small, and the builders put it too close to the lot lines. The douchbag probably thought he could steamroller or pay off the locals. Eventually, he returned it to the builders (probably threatened them with misrepresentation litigation) but now he's gone. Good Riddance, I say.

Fuck these assholes who come into town and try to bend everyone else to their way of life. Californians seem to do this elsewhere like Austin, Portland and Boise. If they get power, the Blue Plague begins to spread. Locals have to rise up and say no.

Dude.....I personally know many ex-Californians and I've met many in other states. An easy way to met locals is to bring your dog to the dog park for a couple of hours. I just recently met a bunch of ex-Californians in AZ. They heavily bitched about the politics in CA. I understand people get upset at Californians moving in to your town and driving up RE prices (Those who own RE actually like it) but don't assume all of these ex-californians are libs.....many stupid libs love it here in CA and dont ever move. Many Californians that are fed up with the BS politics move to other states.

they bitch about it, come to Austin TX and vote like they did in CA. Consequence now is that Austin has become a shithole city due to transplants from CA
