Kind lie usually has a good intention but usually a bad outcome (paraphrasing Milton Freidman). This is why there is an emphasis on truth in many cultures.

Lies originate from 1. greed 2. fear

Someone trying to trick you for financial gain by lying is greedy; poor people are more desperate than others on average.
Single mothers are almost by definition poor; treat them with caution.

Other broke people are often working in sales; would a guy with money be out there in the hot sun trying to sell you an RV?

Lies about dating other people while dating someone else are based on fear; you don't want to ge "caught" and "punished" by one female because you are afraid of her dumping you. Fear may influence your behavior and you may lie to her about your activities.

Some people lie to project an image; a girl I know lies about 1. receiving $500K from a deceased boyfriend 2. getting married to another guy "soon". She wants to project and image of "success in the war of the sexes." In fact, she's broke and nobody is putting a ring on it anytime soon.

Some cultures seem to lie much more and it's sometimes confusing for the visitor.
Example: In Japan, most people are honest and don't tell stories. In Mexico, it's so common to lie that people assume I am lying whenever I tell them my stories. I get frustrated at times and say "Why would I want to lie about this to you?"

I dislike being forced into answering a question that may cause me to lie; but lately this isn't a problem.

Don't forget all the paid of so called peer reviewed medical journals publishing false science and made up statistics to promote the vaxicides.
