I will be there for a few days and have never been before. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for dinner that is not too expensive? We will be a large party. Thanks!

Pacific Catch on 9th near GG park might suit you, its pleasant and unpretentious. Make a reservation.

Thanks for the tips!

I like Plouf, which specializes in mussels. The food is excellent and relatively cheap, but watch out for the wine prices.

Made reservations at Limon and am taking the names of the other two places for possible lunch or smaller party dinners. Thanks!

How big of a party are you talking about, and what is the ideal price range?

Limon because you just can’t find comparable style and taste. Yelp for more detail.

Which location? There are a few variations of it. I like Peruvian as well and go to Fresca on West Portal from time to time.

Plouf

Wow it's amazing how Belden Pl (the alley that Plouf is on) has transformed. Our family lived in an apartment on Belden back in the early 80's. It was a slum then. I may just visit this restaurant for old times sake.

Anyone interested in West Portal should try Squat and Gobble for breakfast/lunch. It’s basically a salad, crepes (sweet and non-sweet) place. You order and pay and find a seat if that’s your thing. Too much eggs flouritine already for my own good.

I always stop at Squat and Gobble and contemplate it. Their savory crepes sound delicious but never knew anyone that can provide feedback. That'll be my next restaurant if I'm going to grab a bite in that area. I live close by as well.

Fresca - I tend to order the same things every time. Seafood Paella, and either a steak or lamb chop. Two plates are more than enough food for 2 people. Even though the plates were designed for individuals, it works pretty well eating family style. The tables are kind of small though.

$20 an entree with reasonably-priced drinks for a party of 13.

I'd recommend Fresca (West Portal location is the only one I've eaten at). They have other locations. I am not sure if the menus are all the same. The place is a bit tight but I'm pretty sure they can accommodate a part of 13 with a reservation. Check them out on Yelp.

I've only had Sangria there and you get a good deal if you buy in pitchers. Not sure what other types of drinks they have.
