It can be argued that no other single person had a greater impact upon the degradation of American culture than did Jerry Springer.

For 27 years, the lifelong Democrat Springer peddled filth and perversion over the airwaves, and he did it all for money.

Now he is dead, and the only thing left for him is to face judgment. Unfortunately, the societal decay and rot that he helped to create lives on.

He caused folding chair stocks to spike.

He was Illuminati Jr.: causing as much division as possible for profit.

He publicly exploited the poor for entertainment and financial gain.

You write that as if it were a bad thing!

When he left the vaccination center, everybody was throwing the bottles of vaccines at each other.

This is precisely what I think of him.

Who doesn't peddle filth and perversion on television today? Nobody should have that device in their home. Television is poison.

Anyhow, good riddance to him.

My wife & I will be married for 40 years this fall. We only had a TV in our home for about 2 years.
Getting rid of that "poison" was one of the best decisions we ever made.

Standard daytime TV is unwatchable. Costumes, stupid gay screaming behavior, hypomanic greed shit and bouncing around egged on by MC's. You have to be away from it for a while to get some distance so that you see how utterly crazy and artificial it is.

The news channels are dirges of excited, hypomanic chatter over mostly nothing, or repetitive propaganda.

I recommend this for everybody. It perverts people's reasoning and behavior. People unconsciously ape behavior they see on television CONSTANTLY. People absorb social and political attitudes. I hate television so goddamned much.

I almost yearn for 90s talk trash, for the simple reason at least there was debate, though it was whether Jamal really didn't mean to have sex, but slipped and fell into Jaqlyn's Vagina.

Remember debate on TV?

Screaming and yelling isn't debate.

Debate on television hasn't really happened since the 1980s.

I watched a movie last night titled "Joy". I like movies like this one. It is loosely based on the life of the queen of HSN (Home Shopping Network). Her family was shit but she persevered anyway. She invented the miracle mop.

There's definitely still compelling TV. We just leave it on in the background and I'll catch a morning weather report or listen to local news. Never listen to too much national news unless the locals are covering it. We're talking a 10 minute span MAX in the morning. No cable. We can stream stuff and own roughly 300 movies, mostly kid to teen level. Some adult, not porn.....

I watch a lot of content on the computer. A lot of house build stuff and cooking as gay as that sounds. I think my dad cooked less than 10 meals in my entire childhood. My mom only had like 10 go to dishes so those were the cycle bi-weekly basically. She did like grilling but was god awful at it in hindsight. I started taking over the turkey for Thanksgiving at like 20 because my mom's was that bad. Dry and no flavor to speak of. Brining exists. I've cooked indoors or grilled at minimum of 500-600 meals for my kids. That was a goal of mine to change how I was raised. I've found it to be fun.

The rare day I was sick and would stay home from school I was like WTF is this in the 90's. Springer being one of them. Convinced it was all scripted and they were paid actors. Fast forward to the early 2000's and I start working in Chicago. I'm like shit, these people do exist. I had the fortunate experience of going into their homes. I still think they were paid and some of it was a bit, but I lived in a rural bubble growing up. Glad I had my city time, but cities are built for service workers to service people going to the city to be entertained. Even the entertainment is leaving more cities.

The next decade is going to be interesting. I think urban exodus is going to be far greater than people realize. Growth will only come from births, but I think every major metro area will have population drops. Even hipster and popular mid to large cities. The Springer types exist and I think we'll see more of them acting out as people and the consumers leave cities.

That's why Obozo wanted to end Zoning Laws and have Sec 8 projects in Suburbs.

"If the problem people are mixed in with other people, they'll be less problematic."

Problem is the problem people WERE mixed with other people before they emmigrated to big cities. Check out Miami, NYC before 1960 - Blacks were a tiny minority. And, if it made them good, how come back in the 60s, 70s, 80s when NYC was still majority majority, it didn't help much?

True, all things being equal. But the trending ban of personal cars in the name of "going electric for the environment" will pull people back to the cities. When private cars are unaffordable, people will need to live near work and shopping. Unless the electric car mandates are hard removed, we are at the end of the golden age of personal transportation.

Section 8 is already everywhere, including the suburbs. Back in the 1990s when I had rental homes that were nice 3br 2,5 bath 2 car garage in a newer subdivision, I was approached to do Section 8. I declined. Most Section 8 is low end homes owed by slumlord Dems because it is more profitable, but much higher end homes are permitted.

It started that way. Then it moved on to actors and/or people taking advantage of incentives (hotels, restaurants, cash) to pretend they have a scandalous story. The show got totally out of hand towards the later years.

The urban exodus will exclude those who have sec 8 HUD paying 90% of their rent.
Government workers and geezers without money will also stay put.

The problem with shock is that you eventually bore the audience and can't top the last show.

People have always liked freak shows and drama, nothing new under the sun. People brought tickets to see "Glenn or Glenda?" in the 1950s in your downhome small town theater. I remember some Horror and Low Budgets ("Video Dreadfuls") from the 1970s and early 80s more fucked up than anything made today, which is tame in comparison. The Mountains have Ears. Blood Drinking Freaks. Kentucky Woodchipper Massacre. Faces of Death I-MXCVI, etc.

I think exhaustion and (worse in the PoMo era) boredom from shock is taking over, people have had a bellyfull.
24   Ceffer   2023 May 7, 10:03pm

Howard Stern was most decidedly a freak show of the pathetic and the dismal urban freakoids in olden days. One show was really unbelievable when he had a whole group of men with micro penises display themselves nude on the show, micro penises and all.

I think that there will always be a demand for affordable housing that will keep cities occupied. Those Hondurans gotta live someplace.
