I came across my old HS wrestling jacket and forgot that I wrestled in the 158 lb weight class. I assume I was full-grown then, at 6 ft. It is likely that I weighed a bit more than 158, which was the weight you'd typically diet and sweat off the weight to get down to. But nonetheless, whilst 6 ft., 158 lbs sounds ridiculoulsy skinny, it is actually in the middle of healthy weight.

BMI = 21.4

BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
Overweight = 25–29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

In fact, yo'd have to get below 137 lbs. at that height to be considered underweight. So, are we becoming accustomed to viewing overweight as normal weight?

I always cringe when young, fit, pretty women who have great healthy levels of bodyfat feel the need to refer to themselves as "skinny". I feel like they think of themselves as skinny because hiphop / rap is very culturally influential on young people, and theres a lot of influential fat western women in that section of culture, and the fatties call each other skinny as a way to make themselves less fat. "shananay why you so skinny girl? men be lovin all dis women I carries aroun." (and shananay is 30lbs overweight, nevermind her fatter friend calling her skinny)

My definition of "skinny" is more of a combo of low bodyfat (such that your skin folds get very thin) AND lower than normal muscle mass. Lean but sufficient muscle mass isnt skinny IMO.

Maybe part of it is theyd rather refer to themselves as skinny so as to not comparatively implicate an angry fatty as being fat.

We're all old and feeling our age and realizing our health care system just exploits us and doesn't help us.

We either correct it, or at least warn the younger generations, so they can have a chance of fixing it. We've had a long life, welcome to having a duty beyond your life.

I still remember being 20 and having the idea that it was unimaginable to live to 50, here I am, or part of me is. My 20 year old self, he's dead. I have some of his memories, but I'm not him.

It's our duty at this point to educate the younger generation not only to avoid the gross errors we made, but the terrible errors the boomer generation made. No offense to the boomers, but I think they did a particular bad job of educating the young, however to give them some leeway, they went through enormous and rapid change.

Still, I won't forgive them for marching my generation into Operation Desert Storm when they were pushed into Vietnam, it was the same. They knew better. I remember that time and how little resistance that was put up. It destroyed my concept of the "make love not war" generation. I thought they were anti-war, they weren't, they were anti-draft. It dispelled the myth I had on their stated belief that government sanctioned murder was wrong. The vast majority of them were fine with government sanctioned murder provided their kids were driven into it, and not them.

Took a hazard bike ride around Santa Cruz today. Along with getting 'doored', 'car mirrored', 'garbage pails in streeted', 'pedestrianed', 'little running kidded', 'skateborded', and just plain being hit by other wobblers on bicycles, there is the new hazard of the EV boards and bicycles on the bicycle paths. Fucking electric bicycles are not bicycles, they are electric motorcycles and should be in traffic, not running over cyclists on the paths.

Of course there is the added hazard at the Boardwalk of what seems like innumerable hoards of incredibly obese Mexicans and their scores of 200 pound children. How many fat Meskins can California hold before it sinks?

I guess getting 'teeny weeny bikini'd' by flashing coeds isn't so bad, but I come back from these bike trips feeling like I'm skinny, and I am not.

When answering the question of healthy or not, my first thought leans toward biological anthropology. 5000+ years ago, humans were generally just trying to get enough calories. Life was very hard. If someone was even basic "overweight" BMI, they would probably stop trying to feed themselves and have some extra time to do something else. Conclusion: People evolved over the last 100,000+ years to live between starvation and "healthy" BMI and would basically never get to "overweight" category, so that's probably how the human body has been shaped to work best.

I'm slightly overweight. You wouldn't call me fat if you saw me by a long stretch. The truly obese are easy to spot, it's not difficult. Now if I shot a porn or modeling job you'd say that guy could lose a little bit. That's how I'd categorize myself. Bit of a beer belly though not that big. Can't tell through a shirt.

I think thinness is a factor of moving. If you work a desk job and don't eat right you will get fat unless you have godlike metabolism or work out frequently. I've noticed a huge difference since I got out of RE and do manual labor now. Carrying some winter weight but I'll get back down to Senior year high school weight by June/July. Nothing that strenuous either. Just need to be on your feet.

One tip if you have a 1/3rd or less acre lawn, push mow it. 22" deck and you're walking 2 miles pushing the thing. Don't get a rider. Garden, grow veggies, be on your feet weeding and taking care of it. Plus the freshness can't be beat out of your garden. Bike or walk to work if you can. Walk a mile out to a beach, park, lake, etc. and shoot the shit on Patnet and walk back after 30 minutes. I'm a proponent of beach/sand volleyball, that works up a sweat and is fun.

I don't like running. I have bad knees though. Somehow my wife loves it but it beats her body up. I think running is an awful way to stay in shape. Swimming laps is literally the king of having that toned body that's not overly muscular and low stress on the legs and joints because of buoyancy. Lifting heavy weights is awful for you. You'll end up with back issues and hooked on opioids.

I think the people that think that the majority of people look like them. Are really chubby chasers and that's all that they see.
I'm still sticking with my ascension that 90% of every public situation. People that big are less than 5 out of a hundred folks at any given place.

You should really look real close at this chart.
They don't have the representation of anyone as fat as the woman pictured above, and if you look closely there really isn't that much difference between the Obese examples. Underweight looks like a perfectly normal person, as does the first Obese example.
It really depends on the body types and frame. The BMI tealeaves is some bullshit the Hype Pressure Gym membership assholes invented to shame people into finance $1200 a year, Gym memberships in the 90s.

It made a great way to further divide people so the Commies conscripted it, they got us to call each other fat asses, while they took all of the safety and comfort out of the airline seats, and destroyed our Food production to the point, we're paying $12 now for a fucking chicken and up to $10 for a dozen eggs.

Who in the fuck is getting fat at these prices?

Don't be a useful IDIOT and please for God Sakes, and for the sake of humanity, stop being a chubby chaser. There's a world of hot asses out there, quit looking at the buldges and wrinkles, unless you're into that sort of thing.

Those fat people who look like a rolling pin, rather than having voluptuous curves to accent their fat.
I mean really at that point what are they gaining? Who are they going to impress either way? They look like a concertation camp prisoner when they are thin, or they look like a rolled up carpet with a few pounds on them.
What ever your ideal weight and preference. Just remember before the last 100 years Humanity has never had the choice, option or opportunity to decide their diet. And at the rate we're going it wont be long where we'll be lucky to have a bug sandwich and wash it down with a Trannyaide. If you can afford it.

Has anybody noticed how many young women that don't have the usual flabby arms and legs (though there are plenty of those), but have a huge unshapely blob ass and belly? That ain't exercise nor is it simple calories - something else is happening. People generally should have fat blobby limbs to go along with fat bellies and fat asses; many of these younger people don't.

Also, fat acceptance is disgusting. I remember gals that only had that tiny amount of roundness nowhere near an inch around the belly button that wouldn't wear a two piece feeling they were "too fat". Now I see lardass girls flopping their bellies and massive chunky asses all over. And not just older women, but younger chicks you'd think should be reasonably self-aware.

There are numerous diet frauds, but some anthems are correct. Common processed foods have been imbedded with hormone inhibitors to cause lethargy and fat. It is not just a matter of calories consumed, it's calories plus metabolic pathway manipulations.

Fast food joints seem to be the purveyors of addictive foods (human flesh?) that also fuck up the body's hormones. What, where, and how would require analysis that would likely be suppressed. Those fast food joint bust ups look so much like addict behavior on withdrawal, it's hard not to draw a comparison.

I sure wish I knew what they were specifically, except they are at least in breads, sugar products, cereals, raman soups, and the oft stated seed oils. The seeds are not toxic by themselves, but heat applied to their oils have some side effects.

The usual suspects probably have labs where they study all these interactions and incorporate them into the processed foods, particularly grain and seed processed foods.

Minimize processed foods and processed grain products, which is where they hide their combo poisons. Fats don't make you fat, carbs with their industrial witch's oils make you fat. Get your carbs from fresh farm produce, not anything mixed in a vat and spit out on an assembly line. The stuff they mix in the vats are what get you.

One would expect that the Globalist fiends would poison grain products first and foremost, because those are what feed most of humanity.

It's the nature of the absorption and burning that can be distorted, and the gas jets can be turned up or down with metabolic active agents. Pathways toward accumulating fat could also be artificially induced.

Everybody could wind up thin if they had a hormonal process that increased their basal metabolic rate by a percentage. No matter what they ate, they would not overwhelm it with calories. They might even need a lot of calories just to maintain. In cold climates, more calories are better and are burned off faster to maintain body heat. Vice versa, if you had a lowered basal metabolic rate by hook or crook, you could gain excess weight even if you didn't have an excessive caloric diet.

If you have a body that will not absorb all the calories that you eat, you need to eat more for a baseline. Everybody knows thin people that eat like horses and never get fat. Metabolism is a complex biologic phenomenon, not a simple in and out math. Genetics also play a role.

Anabolic steroids increase muscle mass, turn the body toward catabolism of fat as well. All those weight lifters with no subcutaneous fat, that's a by product of steroid ingestion. That muscle look with bulging veins and muscles with thin, transparent flesh and no subcutaneous fat, are caused by steroids, unless they are the rare male that have a very high inherent testosterone sensitivity.

A byproduct of narcotics use is that fat stores tend to deplete and junkies wind up thin. Cigarettes and nicotine engage central brain process that cause weight loss, and one of the frustrations for those giving up nicotine is that they can gain a lot of weight almost over night. That process can even out over time, but gaining weight, especially for women, can be a reason they keep smoking along with the basic addiction.

It's movement. We've become a sedentary population. You still may not lose weight if you do an hour workout a day intentionally. I personally think to be the fittest you can be you need to be moving 4-6 hours a day and preferably doing stuff, not working out necessarily. Working out is highly overrated and for dudes is generally is getting muscular which doesn't equate to healthy. Not bad, but everyone generally fails at the consistency and that turns into fat if you fall off the workout train.

If you're in an office see if you can get a stand up desk. Sitting is the worst, hence why people have developed sometimes $1k+ office chairs for their staff. You guys in CA have it easy weather wise. Walk the dog daily. Walk and eat a made at home lunch around the building or campus. Do a quick hike with elevation changes. Join a sand volleyball league with some buddies.

The key is to wake up early and go to bed early, if you're not an insomniac. Especially if you have kids. Give yourself 1-3 hours before the kids get rolling. We're up at 4:20am Central M-F and 5-6am on the weekends. Do other simple things. Park the furthest away where you can still dump the cart at the grocery store. Don't go for the closest spot. 100 yard is maybe 30 seconds with a brisk walk. If you're in that much of a rush you didn't plan.

I don't know how many people have been to Wisconsin. By default it should be the most obese state outside of the south. Everything is cheese and beer. They're middle of the pack.

It's also an amazing place to find sneaky hotties physically and in what they do. Shoot guns, wrench on snowmobiles, cars, UTVs, etc. Hence why they're not overly obese because they're moving and doing shit outside in the snow and summer. My bachelor buddy and best man in my wedding goes up 3-4 times a year and just slays it. I don't want to know what STD's he has with probably a body count of 300+, but not my life.

That's all true but you will still lose weight if you burn more than your intake. Having a good metabolism and muscles certainly helps bringing up the burn rate, but you get that through exercise as well.

Absolutely, I noticed a reduction in emphasis on movement in the past years, but that's still your best bet. The total amount of sugars (not carbs) recommended for daily intake by who or others is so low that I'd wager 99% are way over it. When we were kids we would down multiple sodas (shifted to beer later) like nothing after hours of soccer practice or games, or 3 hour tennis matches, and I spent a significant amount of daily/weekly allowance and earned money on Popsicles and other stuff, especially in the hot summer days. 5 Popsicles (albeit small) or more throughout the day was not unusual. Yet childhood obesity was pretty much at zero as we roamed outside pretty all day every day. I was thin as a stick til reaching adulthood, no matter what and how much I ate. Its all about movement. Once you spend your days in an office job sitting down all day you better work out a lot after hours or in the am, or change your previous diet if necessary.

It really wasn't that long ago when wearing Yoga Pants or Jeggings (without a skirt over it at least) was considered slobby unless you were doing exercise or sitting around the house.

Now gals are wearing them everywhere, work, school, errands, out at night.

Another one is bras, they're now just wearing comfy cozy sports bras/cotton bras, they're not even bothering with wire bras on daily basis. Laaaaazy.

Farmers are reporting that livestock fed with GMO grains or feed are becoming sterile and can't reproduce. Is it the actual genetically altered plant, or additives that the fiends put in with the GMO stuff? I about puke every time I watch a sporting event for my kids. It's why I don't coach even though I have the time. Kids are fucking fat. I went and sat in the car at the last baseball game for my nephew and oldest. Couldn't watch. I don't get it. I'm friends with some of the parents and I'm like what the fuck are you feeding that kid? They can't run or move.

My oldest son is a freak though. 6th grade and is pushing 6'. So he's tall and lean. So is the youngest and my nephew. They all generally eat like shit if I'm being honest. Never sick. Healthy weight if not too skinny. My nephew had 8 hot dogs at the schools field day. He's a walking toothpick.

Our kids do their fare share of electronics and sitting on their ass, but they move. Winter is the hardest here but for IL the money is too damn good to move. The kids are fat here though. Makes sports tough. Hard to rely on a teammate when they can't fucking move. So I bail a lot of the time watching it. Sad, but when my son and nephew are scoring 6 goals in soccer and everyone else is just sitting there I want to punch them all... I really am a nice person, just occasional anger issues... lol.

When I was a kid 'fat ladies' drew stares. They wore mumu dresses and the jokes were that their dresses were made by 'Omar the tent maker'. The forces that celebrate morbid obesity as 'body positivity' are trying to sicken us for profit. Now that there is a pharmaceutical intervention they will likely pathologize fatness again, to some degree at least.

My wife has an ass and is not fat. I think 5'5" 135lbs, 2 kids. I don't know the other measurements. In hindsight a little too short for my liking, I've told her the same. Not much we can do about that. I'm fine with everything else given we're 40 at this point. I'd say both of us look in above average health. I'm not actually, but I put a good facade on. We're both attractive, I just have a weird complexion. Red.

I have to look at the women/wife everyday. Weight is up there in ranking a women, probably 2, but if the face sucks, I'm out. There are beautiful project women though. Amazing looks, but they just let it go. That's why the CrossFit types break up marriages. Hunting grounds are easy pickings once the fatties that still have low self esteem get hit on once they lose the weight. Every female I know that does CrossFit is divorced or separated from their former partner. ALL of them. Then they move on from the next person.

Just move. Don't hyper focus on weight (though it matters). Don't focus on lifting heavy weight. Walk around with a weed whacker for 8 hours 5 days a week. See what shape your body gets in after that instead of a 45 minute workout with breaks.
