What the fuck Disney?

Vice Admiral Gender Studies totally ruined this movie. I honestly had to walk out. it's like they had to invent a strong feminist to put all the high-t males in their place.

Ridiculous. This is stepping over the line.

You can hate the movie, I certainly won't defend it on my end from an artistic standpoint. My main point is don't (anyone) get caught up in this movie being some SJW propaganda flick. Keep the eye on the prize. Fight the actual societal SJW types so it doesn't warp an entire generation. Make sure these people don't have influence on Hollywood or more importantly your kids in high school or college.

Making a long story short, don't get caught up in Star Wars being an SJW movie. That's what they want. They win. They attract your attention over here, while they're brainwashing a new round of fembots and frankly idiots.

Don't understand your logic here. The movie is universally divisive to fans. What exactly are SJW's "winning"? If half the audience tunes out, does that not inherently mean they've "lost influence"? Rian Johnson got signed for 3 movies with Disney (a contract worth triple digit millions to him), the way to reduce this guy's SJW influence is to simply not tune in. Look at what happened to the NFL this season, or CNN's ratings. I'm certainly not paying for another Star Wars ticket. I'm almost at the point that I have zero interest in Star Wars as long as Disney owns it.

That's all people are saying here, and you seem to be reading way too much into criticisms of the movie. It was just bad (for many people, not yourself, you seemed to like it and that's fine), and it sucks they ruined a license that many of us grew up with. I know I certainly won't be introducing my children to these movies. They've effectively lost this family, and it's money.

You've answered you own subliminal question here in a sense. Why on earth, should a scifi movie be DIVISIVE! That is my logic. You hate the movie, that's cool. I don't love it, I hope that's cool on your end. I don't think we're divided, though I'm feeling that's the vibe from you. And that's honestly fine, I'm not going to pull another users (BP - I'm bad, oh well) method and tell you how or what to feel. As I've said, I don't think you're wrong for not liking the movie based on what you've stated here.

I'll try to clarify what I'm getting at here hopefully. The new Star Wars is a FULL grown redwood, 200 years old. It is what it is. You can hate it. You can think it sucks. The problem is that redwood (fully developed SJW) is dropping the seeds/cones of future redwoods (baby/teenage/college SJW's) and has been for a while. It's fine to hate that old redwood, but guess what, it's been growing it's babies left and right while you've been focused on how bad that big old redwood has been.

We need to focus on the seeds of the problem to fix it. Politicizing the mature tree ain't accomplishing nothing. This is why I don't like reviews of this movie pulling in the SJW stuff. If you don't want to buy another ticket or own the movie, then do that. I never said don't. Boycotts can work. Money matters.

Quick note, coming from the guy with a star wars name and avatar, we need to stop glorifying the originals. Great nostalgic movies for sure. But let's be realistic, they're not good movies in the technical sense, especially on the acting front. They are entertaining.

This is not even satire.

Idris Elba just made a suggestion that James Bond, 007, should be a woman. A black woman.

That was my thought exactly as I walked out. Way too much SJW shit for me. Last 2 were heading downhill and then this pile of crap.

These are actually worse than the 3 child oriented shows they let out last decade. I didn't think they could mangle it any more haha...
48   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Jan 25, 10:58pm

Actually whatsherface as Q in 007 wasn't bad because she came off like Maggie Thatcher.

But if they made Q a Lesbian with Pink Hair telling James Bond he needs to get active consent, that would be obnoxious.

Seriously. I was thinking back to Revenge of the Sith and thought, "Geez, ROTS is FAR better than Last Jedi".

Force Awakens may have had some SJW shit but it was at least entertaining and had lots of "setup" and lots of "payoff".

Maybe Rian Johnson is just a retard.

That bad?

1: I figured this was a sop to get the preteen kids on board with Annakin the magic 7-year old and Jar Jar
2: I was like, oh, this could be Count Dooku looks into the abyss and becomes the abyss, looking for tactics to defeat the Sith he becomes one himself and Annakin is corrupted by him a little bit.
3: Annakin becomes fully corrupted and eventually becomes the abyss.

But no, it was just stupid.

I haven't seen any of the new ones.

Hint to writers: Stop making the young heroes ultracompetent. Both Luke and Daniel-sen needed training. Even Rocky trained and Jack Burton needed some potions to stand up to Lo Pan.
52   Ceffer   2018 Jan 26, 12:39am

Next installment will be better. A female Darth Knobby Strap on will rip a new asshole in Darth Cuck after a prolonged dildo sabre battle, and then celebrate victory by bringing Rey to multiple orgasm with her light dildo.

It's called character development. She should have discovered the force and slowly learned its abilities with Luke. That's what made ESB so intriguing was seeing Luke learn from master Yoda.

I think TFW had some good setups. Teased Rey's parents, so we were thinking "wow might get to know more about her in Last Jedi." They could have explored this.

Nope, it ends up her parents are nobodies? Cool Rian Johnson, real cool.
55   FortWayne   2018 Jan 26, 7:37am

For some reason they just can't seem to get this right. Why is it so hard for them, I don't know.

I can tell they are trying to push female heroes to attract young women to buy more SW branded products, but for some reason they are turning it into totally feministic crap which appeals to very few people. They are just really bad at making movies these days.

Still no movie is as good as original star wars, or the Firefly series.
56   Goran_K   2018 Jan 26, 8:14am

The best female hero movie I've seen recently was Wonder Woman. Funny thing is leftist hated it because Gal Gadot was too hot. I'm serious.

Gal Gadot's slim figure is "oppression" to feminist.

Purple haired lesbian Hillary supporter was only half of why I hated it.

The other half was huge gaping plot holes and literally no connection to the old trilogy in terms of character development (Luke is literally not Luke), heck, there's BARELY a connection to TFA.

Some people like mindless entertainment where the narrative has numerous unconnected subplots, and it's just laser swords, explosions etc, and that's fine, I prefer solid story writing for the money I'm paying.

I'm not sure what kind of ladies you all hang around with, but apparently that might be part of the problem. For some reason, a fictitious character in a movie is making you feel, well feel a little less about yourself.

I recognize that I sound like our redpill cucks but I can assure you its not well founded. Like Goran (who I do not align with politically) I did well with the ladies when young & poor, and same now. FWIW I am married to a very high achieving woman who is well respected and well liked. She has repeatedly declined to lead/speak for women's groups who wanted her (too political, people too weird), yet she noted the same thing when we got out and discussed the film.

Last I mostly agree with you that there is wayyy too much political bent ascribed to everything by many of our patnetters, but on this one, I reluctantly side with them.

Let's be honest. You could be a far leftist, and let's say I'm a far rightist. The fact remains the movie was terrible all around. To say "Why are you guys mad, it's just a movie" is laughable.

Gee, Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy only completely obliterated decades of great stories, and declared them non canon for this shit. Why would anyone be angry about that?

Whenever you see purple hairs worn proudly in movies, and you hear "white male" pronounced with disdain, scorn, or spite, take it for what it is: advertisement for Trump 2020.

You should be happy that the tribal game is in full swing.

I think this nails it on the head. The real reason why he was given another trilogy to do was because he did whatever Kathleen Kennedy wanted. TLJ was not a good movie by any objective standard. It was the only Star Wars movie that I've ever looked at my watch. The whole casino subplot was just absolutely awful. Talk about the dumbest/slowest chase scene ever. "Hey guys, we have the most powerful fleet in the universe following a tiny ship that can't do anything...what's the plan?...just follow behind them nice and slow..." Seriously?! How the F do you have a Star Wars movie with 0 light saber duels!?! The fight with Snoke's guards was cool, but they didn't have light sabers. Why do you ruin Luke Skywalker? F Rian Johnson! I absolutely loved Star Wars, and this movie completely ruined it going forward. I'll probably watch 9, but I have no intention of seeing anything else from Rian Johnson.
68   justme   2018 Jan 26, 2:42pm

The Star Wars franchise is pandering to women. The whole point of this propaganda thread is to try and convince white working class males that their interest is better served by Republicans than by Democrats. You are trying to get white working class males to vote against their own economic self-interest by invoking feminism as the bogeyman, and Republicans and Trump as their savior. This has been standard operating procedure for Republican propagandists probably as far back as 1960, if not before.

As usual:

1. "leftism" is one of the new designated propaganda words of 2017-2018. Before that I never heard of it, now it is being echoed everywhere in the propaganda echo chamber.

2. equating feminism with "leftism" is yet another propaganda technique. This particular thread is a perfect example. Rather than arguing against feminism, which is what it should do, it argues against "leftism" by equating it with feminism.

Luke in TLJ is such a terrible character devoid of all logic.

In TFA, he leaves this secret map behind, a map guarded by his closest allies (Kylo Ren chops an old guy in half to get the map to Skywalker during the opening moments of TFA) just in case shit hits the fan and they need a trained Jedi to help bring back order to the galaxy.

Then in TLJ, Rey arrived on the Jedi island, and what does Luke do? He tosses the lightsaber over the cliff and then acts like an emo bitch the rest of the movie.

How does that make any sense?!

Hmm, I seem to remember in the 60s the Republicans voting for the Civil Rights Act which was majority opposed by mostly Democrats.

But that's just history and facts getting in the way, carry on!

Yup, I was done w/ this franchise with the following link

I'd no longer any affinity for the franchise to delve into the SJW nonsense because it was already apparent with the whole Mary Sue thing, starting in TFA.

Spielberg and Lucas were inspired by the old movie serials. These had plenty of fantastic plots as well as holes in the plots. Suspend disbelief and enjoy. As these gentlemen likely did when they sought inspiration, fire up a spliff beforehand and have a good time.

''With both 'Star Wars' and 'Raiders,' I started out by asking myself 'Gee, when I was a kid what did I really like?' '' Mr. Lucas recently explained. He liked the derring-do of the serials, and the unbeatable courage of their characters, not to mention the 30's settings. ''Practically every movie star of the 30's has one movie like this, be it Alan Ladd or Clark Gable or whoever - playing a soldier of fortune in a leather jacket and that kind of hat,'' Mr. Lucas said, referring to Mr. Ford's snap-brim. ''That's a favorite period of mine, but it was more the character we were after than the period, although they're obviously both rooted in the same ground. I took that character and put him in outer space and it worked just fine - not the same character exactly, but the same concept in terms of story and entertainment value.''
