I've been to my fair share of music festivals in my college years. Not the exact same thing as Burning man necessarily, but large groups of people in camp like settings is miserable. If you're over 25 and still going to shit like this you're a common retard and you get what comes with it. I had my fun when I had no responsibility, but the previous comment with the shit overflowing is reality at most of these festivals. Bonnaro in Tennessee was probably the worst I experienced. Piles of shit 3' above the lid in EVERY portapotty. Not inches, feet.

I despise over regulation, but the festival industry is the wild west so to speak. There is going to be a major, and I mean major catashrophy at some point. I'm talking 4 figure death toll. It's nearly impossible to throw up a "city" of 50k+ people and not have something go really wrong at some point. I won't even go to a standard show/concert with 2k people if there's not a VIP option. I'm too old to be shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of drunk/high people infringing on my space. Pinkies up and pompous, but I don't give a shit. I want to enjoy the music and not have to deal with the people around me.

I still don't get what Burning man is really and I'm not eager to research it as I'll never go. But it seems from what I've seen to be a liberal festival in a desert that is massively wasteful and there's really no purpose. I get Cochella and Lolla, but I don't recall if burning man is even considered a music festival. Just a party in the middle of nowhere. Count me out.
