The Florida governor is the Fox-loving, lib-owning successor-in-waiting to Donald Trump’s cult of personality. But for all DeSantis’s bona fides and rocketing national profile, doubts about his own persona (“calculated,” “aloof,” “cold-blooded”) persist. Is it any wonder he and the former president are already locked in a 2024 cold war?

It is Vanity Fair. But still has lots of juicy shit in it like this gem:

Of course, any path to the 2024 GOP nomination almost certainly runs through Trump. According to two sources briefed on Trump’s plans, the former president considered announcing he was running over the July Fourth holiday but decided to wait. According to a source, Trump told advisers he worried he could be damaged politically if Republicans underperform in the midterms. “He’d rather blame Mitch McConnell for a loss than himself,” a Republican briefed on Trump’s thinking told me.

Go Desantis!

The critiques at the end of the article are interesting. It does make me think that a lot of TDS suffers are in for a rude awakening if they manage to sideline Trump and get Desantis instead.

DeSantis is already loathed by the Left as Trump2.

DeSantis is great, I had the pleasure of voting for him.
We need a lot more like him.

They will immediately go into bouts of DSDS then.

I don't mind DeSantis. We'll see how his hurricane response is with Ian though. Can't control weather, but if it's handled poorly he's probably out. And you know Dems are going to attack his response regardless if it was good or bad. They'll go to some poor, flooded neighborhood and show that he doesn't care instead of focusing on the fact they had no community and didn't work together.

Yes, and ironically, it will be a Dem run city. Just like what happened in New Orleans when the mayor diverted flood protection infrastructure money to cronies instead of building higher levees and then tried to blame Busch for hurricane unpreparedness while skipping blame even on the Dem state government.

I'm generally favorable to DeSantis, but worry that his having gone to Yale makes him part of that class of people, and that everything is an act.

I see some folks going gaga over DeSantis. Let's not forget the fundamentals. The issues are systemic and Ron is just an another politician who sounds good to your ears and this is why you like him.

Dems love to gaslight like this article. The Dems fear someone who can effectively expose their left wing authoritarian agenda.

I knew once the Dems (including the media to their corrupt courts and FBI/DOJ) had enough of Trump they would move on to other anti-Woke and anti-AntiFa targets like Governors DaSantis, Abbot, and Kemp.

And I especially say Kemp cause they were so fixated on Trump with Trump Derangement Syndrome that Kemp was able to get voting integrity legislation passed in early 2021.

The Dems did not have AntiFa on payroll to stir shit up and riot in Georgia. AntiFa has been on sabbatical since Birdbrain's inauguration in January 2022.
