I think that's generous on the time he has left. This man is a mirror image almost 40 years before now. His mentality is virtually the same as Sebastian Kohn's. He's a teacher and was well aware of the dangers of the AIDS virus and how it spread, yet he immersed himself in the culture. Somehow, though, society had failed these people from his perspective. There was a large, front page story about him after his death called "The Dying of Howie". It was largely sympathetic and told about how he loved to jet around the country on vacation, meeting hordes of like-minded people who no doubt exchanged bodily fluids. Not surprisingly, he was positive by 1985 and died in 1986.
