#peopleseekingcheaperhousinginEurope True to my promise, I'm always out there hunting for obscure stories that other media outlets miss or do not take seriously. Bloomberg came out with a surprising article stating that Americans are moving to Europe to lower housing prices. Here is the article if you are curious:

I found this fascinating. At one point I had given serious thought to moving Elena and me to Norway. I researched the housing market there. It was slightly more pricey than the San Francisco Bay area. I'm quite familiar with the Southern British housing market. The area around London is just as expensive as the Bay area. The same can be said for Switzerland.
Many people have been “locked out" of the US housing market. I bought my first house in Falls Church, Virginia, in February of 1972 (I was 24 years old.) The price was a rousing $22,000 US. Since I was an active-duty military person, I got a 100% loan to buy the property. My house payment was a couple of hundred dollars a month.
Young people in the US and other countries today face a harsh and different reality. Housing prices have gone up geometrically. There is also an acute shortage of houses for sale. Around where we live, the average house goes for well in excess of one million US. Most purchases are "all cash deals" (Very wealthy people and people who have sold a prior high-priced house and are flush with cash.) Even if someone wanted to finance a purchase with a mortgage (bond for my British friends) the monthly payments would be staggering. Owners selling houses would not wait for the cumbersome process of getting a loan approved.
In many other US cities, there used to be low-cost housing where young people could buy their "starter home" and start to build equity and move on to a larger house later.
Now massive investment companies buy up these cheaper homes hundreds at a time. They fix these homes up and rent them for high prices. Many young people see themselves being trapped as renters for life.
I have no political agenda. I try to keep politics out of my reporting. I want to be both informative and entertaining. I have warned repeatedly that there are a massive number of people not only in the US but in a lot of other countries who feel that they have been left behind as others prospered. This is a recipe for some serious violence and social unrest. I have warned both US political parties to start listening to these people carefully! Neither party is handling this situation right now!!!

You literally don't know those housing markets. At all. I believe you read our comments but don't reply. Looking online is not knowing a market.

People who try to play the middle of the road during these political turmoil times, are either not being intellectually honest with their readers, or have a Rachel Maddow view of the world from her being their sole source of news over the last 6 years. Sure they may have grown disillusioned by her lies and deceit by now. But those viewers are failing to realize they were brainwashed to not see the full picture, and understand their hate, and distrust of the America first movement, for a lack of calling it, "The Pushback against the Dystopian Left's power grab!" which is exactly what it has been since the very day, the Democrats challenged the 2000 election and tried to decipher every empty punch card as a vote for Al Gore.

You guys, that are now frustrated with the Left's media apparatus, still cling on to every lie they told you.

To say "There's two sides to every story we need to hear everyone out."

Is crass and dishonest. The Left wants a full blown dictatorship and have perversed our Democratic process. The fact that you folks have never reconciled our two tier justice system, that has turned into a regime to silence any potical opposition, while their supporters have absolute impunity to commit every crime on the book, while Conservatives are arrested for made up adhock crimes.

That really grinds my gears. I know you don't like to come back and comment, but can you reconcile this for me.

How do you propose that the rabid left are just a political voice trying to right injustices against racists misogynists Conservative folks. Before they were just blanket claiming any opposition is just White Males, now they smear any person of color joining the conservative voices as "Uncle Toms" and "People of color White supremacists."?

I mean at least provide me with one iota of proof that supports the lefts baseless hyperbole accusations that are blindly hurled at us.
You folks can never ever support those accusations, but still you claim they have valid concerns and should be listened to.

Do you know what History calls them Jack? I know you do, you're an excellent student of History I'm sure. They are called "useful Idiots".

Talk to me Jack don't be a useful Idiot.

Moderation for the past 50, maybe 70, years was "Give in to every Leftist demand to some degree".

There was a very brief window under Newt Gingrich where Leftism actually went into reverse for less than 4 years, but that's the trend.

Now that MAGA is around, Republicans are being "Extreme" by not following the 20th Century "Give in a bit on everything, all the time, over time to the Left"

"George Will-ism"

That's why I try to explain to everyone that huffs and puffs about one party or the other. That there are only two views. Left or Right of the issue.
And at some point in your life you may have to vote one or the other, just to pull politics back to the center.

How can you possibly ignore Detroit real estate, with some very nice Somali neighborhoods?
