Now just shit. The rats are going to loot a mall and bring back swag to show their teachers that they pass the financial literacy test.

This will “provide a foundation for students to learn about the basics of money management, understanding debt, understanding how to balance a check book, understanding the fundamentals of investing,” he said.

I've always felt highschool should make it a core requirement to teach financial management. Unlike some other topics they teach, financial basics is highly useful to most students.

But I suppose that would hurt consumerism, and impact the economy if we have fewer dumb kids living paycheck to paycheck, taking on debt that forces them to work more than they otherwise would. OTOH it could make for a better society if people spend their money more wisely, using money for more productive things, instead of buying the latest pair of nikes.

Anyone wanna bet FL will teach that the cost of crushing college debt may not be worth it for majors that dont lead to decent jobs (like woke majors), and then dems will writhe and scream about how "this new FL graduation requirement is raycist"?

We had to take "Small Business and Home Economics" in Highschool.
Where they taught us how to balance a check book, understand loan amortization, schedule bills, create a budget, and filling out tax returns.
And Small Business taught us to understand small business requirements, like licensing and fees, location rental, sales tax, employee tax, payroll, inventory procurement, and customer management.

I remember struggling to understand the homework and the questions on the test, at the time. But how clear it all came throughout my life, as I needed those skills.
Sort of like a lot of the math on dimensions I thought I would never need, but when I was flooring contractor. I could measure and cut anything at any radius or any angle by using many of those formulas I got wrong on so many math tests, years before in Highschool.
