Enforcing vax even though no legal requirement to do so.

Didn't realize this happened until speaking with some friends who "used" to buy a lot of their workwear.
I actually love their products, and while I am fine with those who chose to get vaccinated, I still think that a mandate is the wrong/bad approach.

I was very surprised that this particular company took enforced a mandate - which tells you that mandating the jab must be popular with the majority
of their client base and the population in general. I don't see them taking a hit for this at all - as most (those like me) didn't even know this was their "final solution."
The unvaccinated are the "other-ed" now... Keep your head down.

Maybe they just want to take some pressure off the pension fund.

You're putting it mildly.

It is a gross violation of basic human rights.

The fact that it is also dangerous and ineffective just adds insult to that injury to human rights.

Please consider contacting Carhartt to express some anger. I did.

Their products are average. Obviously not Walmart cheap-o crap, but still nothing special. They've done a great job branding and marketing as the "working mans" brand. Just like people think a Jeep Wrangler is an off road car. We've owned two (not Wrangler but have rented them a bunch). The quality on them is abysmal. I'm in cold weather and I find ski/snowboard gear to be warmest and just as durable as anything Carhartt puts out there.

Carhartt will see blowback because there are better alternatives. Will it destroy them, no. But most of their customer base is working age males. If not required to be vaccinated, generally working an outdoor job, those are the guys that generally refuse to get vaccinated. What's the point if you're outside? I'm guessing their hope is that their customer base is drive to the bar after work and crawl into bed types and this won't even be on their radar. I could see the enlightened ones stop buying their stuff though. Probably only a 5% drop in sales, but I do think revenue goes down. Also employees quitting and having to rehire and the costs that go with that.

OR:
They "offshore" production. Kinda like what Craftsman did with the formerly USA made tools.
