The fully vaccinated Ayers contracted the virus with her husband after Terry traveling to Mississippi to visit a friend, which has a 42% vaccination rate

Ayers was admitted to the hospital after she tested positive and was put on a ventilator

She died on September 3 at HSHS St John's Hospital

There have been 1,728 hospitalizations for fully vaccinated Illinois residents, with 432 deaths

CDC told her it's OK to go there:

People who are fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine or a vaccine authorized for emergency use by the World Health Organization can travel safely within the United States.
