I don't know who anyone in that photo is.

I am sure Bill is relieved that Epstein did not kill himself in prison and can't talk about their good times on the island.

Hmmmm.... kinda like Cuomo selected his security detail.

Wow, Bill and Hillary?

They sure did not age well.
7   Ceffer   2021 Aug 24, 5:56pm

Bill was in cocaine rehab twice in the day in Arkansas (IHLlary threatened the lives of the staffs if they revealed anything) and has had at least one heart surgery. Cocaine can cause permanent heart damage. Bill couldn't resist the stuff coming into the Mena airport from the CIA smuggling operations and had notorious cocaine and hooker parties while Governor.
Drugs/alcohol and aging don't go well together.

Tip:
Go to the gym or swim when you're a geezer.

Addendum
I’m lately swimming but just the side stroke, not the Australian crawl.
I don’t use my legs much rather the upper body.
I bought Aquasphere tinted swim goggles and go in the ocean which is 79F lately.
Total time in the water is 40 minutes to an hour, in two swims.
Then Dunkin’ Donuts for a cold drink.

Bike riding burns lots of calories too, and gives you great legs without the impacts of running.

Uphill is especially good of course.

You want a simple as crap workout that is far better than biking or running?

Jump rope. I used to do it for 1 hour every night. That's around 5000 skips.

Boxers jump rope, martial artists jump rope, and little girls jump rope. Don't fuck with little girls, they'll kick your ass.

It is seriously, by far, the best general workout you can do. I get obsessive about things, and when I get obsessive about being in shape for a year or so, jumping rope is integral. I'm not certain it's better than swimming though. When I jumped rope and then went running, I couldn't run out of breath running, and my limiting factor was my legs - either pain, or I just didn't have the energy to move them.

How is the East Coast?

You can't be on this coast. First and only time I went into the ocean here, in the height of summer, water was maybe 50F.

Agreed jump rope is brutal. 15 minutes is already a decent work out, 30 is def a good one. 1 hour is brutal although it also depends on your technique, mine is not the most economical so it takes more out of me though I had improved it over the years, those who alternate legs and jump light like a feather with good spring-y feet (I have flat feet) can jump rope much longer while burning fewer calories.

I would fucking die of boredom. Same for running on a treadmill or in a stadium. Or lap swimming. Fucking death. Running/biking in the woods, tennis, kayaking - that's my kind of thing.
15   Patrick   2021 Aug 25, 7:07pm

Right, one advantage of biking is that you are moving and seeing things. Much more fun.

And after a big hill when your heart is pounding, you get the joy and the cool breeze from coasting down the other side.

I think jumping rope could be hard on the knees and ankles.
16   KgK one   2021 Aug 25, 8:35pm

Biking is fun, been riding it on board walks, n poconos mountain.

But have not lost belly fat. Trying intermittent fasting n lost 6 lbs but belly fat remained.

Belly fat is only thing I can't get rid of. If anyone has suggestions post them plz

Yeah, you'd think that but it requires quite a bit of concentration to do it. It's almost like meditation. Try to do 400 jumps. Count by 4 - two jumps as you inhale, two jumps as you exhale. Count to 100. If you step on the rope, wait, rest, reposition yourself and try again. If you were at 100, 101, 102, or 103 jumps, go back to 100. Soon you will stop screwing up.

You might feel stupid for getting out of sync and stopping the rope at first, but if you just do 100 jumps a day, and take the weekend off, and do this for two weeks, you will stop screwing up. I guarantee it. 100 jumps takes less than a minute, you have to know how to size the rope, it should BARELY touch the ground, but not slap it. Don't get any fancy bullshit rope that does electronic counting or is weighted either.

Rope too long? Remove some beads, move up the knot in the handle. I can't find the exact one I used to use..

No, running and biking is worse. The initial pain you might feel is all those little muscles in your feet, and your calves - but no joint pain.

I used to run 7 miles a day - there's knee and hip pain there. I used to bike over 100 miles a week just to go to and from work, and then more on the weekend - that's knee pain. Jumping rope I've only experienced muscle pain.

I used to bike a lot and although you enjoy scenery, what you really enjoy is doing all that distance. Maybe I'll take up biking again, I've taken two years off, and I'm a fat out of shape bastard.
18   clambo   2021 Aug 25, 8:47pm

Richwicks, the ocean is nice off Palm Beach County, the Gulf Stream is warm and clear.

I was in Santa Cruz and the water was always cold, which moderates the climate.

Impact exercises like rope jump or jogging are going to be rough on your joints; one day you’ll feel pain in the muscles going to your groin and you have arthritis, defined as the cartilage wore away, you will be annoyed.
I would do biking, walking, swimming, weight lifting, etc.

Haha, I had to look up where Palm Beach was. Been a while since I was in Florida. As a Northern NYer (I'm practically Canadian) we were programmed in the 1970s to be afraid of people under the Mason-Dixon line, and I still have that conditioning.

When I ran regularly, in my 20's, I once collapsed at work because I had a stabbing pain from my knee to my hip, and my hips and knees were always sore. My leg just stopped working. Nobody saw me thankfully, just took a step and collapsed.

I've never experienced anything negative from jumping rope other than muscle pain. It gives you good core strength, overall fitness, and is twice as difficult as running. I thought only pussies jumped rope until a friend got me into it. It's exhausting and exhilarating. Got sleep problems? You won't if you jump rope before bed!

Of course, you might die of a heart attack too. I should get back into it. I quit when I got busy at work.

Arthritis is an autoimmune disease, and there's some suspicion that all autoimmune diseases are caused by vaccines. I'm minimally vaccinated. I'll find out over the next 30 years if the hypothesis is true. I will never take a vaccine again - not that I'm against vaccines, I just don't see the worth in any of the vaccines of today. I'm inoculated against anything serious.

Did arthritis exist in 1500 and before?

I asked someone who works out all the time and looks great. She said that it's just calories in vs calories out.

You should keep a journal of all the calories you eat every day. Keep up the exercise, and then keep the calories below the level that maintains the belly until you're where you want to be.

That's all there is to it, but it's a difficult thing to actually do.

Summary: "eat less"

You can do that, but just jump rope.

You'll lose weight. Believe me. It's an agonizing workout.

It's not just calories in and out, you have to find the right nutrients. You want to be in great shape? No alcohol, no sugar. No simple carbs at all. Craving sugar? Eat a fruit.

Nothing in a box (that includes flour), nothing in a can, nothing from a jar, nothing from a bottle, nothing from a bag, you stop going out to eat.

Food is limited to spices, fruits, vegetables and meat. If you need a condiment, no sugar - mustard, POSSIBLY relish, but that often has sugar in it. Check the label.

This is seriously next to impossible, but this is how almost all our ancestors lived in 1850. I have tried this, for me it was very hard, but it's... possible. And also, I don't know if this is healthy or not.
22   Patrick   2021 Aug 25, 11:32pm

Sure, eating less is basically equivalent to exercising more. Except that you'll be stronger if you exercise more.
23   clambo   2021 Aug 26, 5:48am

One kind of arthritis is an autoimmune disease, not all are; your joints are able to wear down like various car parts do.

Before 1500 AD your life expectancy was 35 or earlier.

When I surfed I was slimmer, it burned a lot of calories.
24   KgK one   2021 Aug 31, 5:51am

Eat less works. 3 weeks of intermittent fasting last 6 lb. Eat only lunch n dinner.

Though seems to hit plateau at 6 lb. Not loosing more for now or I need to be more patience

The "calories in, calories out" paradigm is completely wrong and ignores the complexity of what you put in and how you body processes it. The human body is not a thermodynamic engine in a vacuum, the macronutrient source of the calories (carbohydrate, protein, fat) is far more important than the quantity. The same people that push "EVERYONE GET THE JAB" are the very same people that pushed "low fat, calorie counting" in the 60s/70s and look at how far obesity has come. The mainstream dietary industry is the result of lobbying by big agriculture and the socipathic leadership of the medical field and they have NEVER been put to trial for their crimes that resulted in countless deaths and chronic disease. They manipulated data, obfuscated the truth, villified people that disagrees with them. They then had their media cronies push BLATANT LIES to the worldwide public. Does any of this sound familiar?

Now, we live in a world where well meaning people spread complete disinformation because the lies became systemic.

If you want to understand this history, start with "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes.

Edit: things like intermittent fasting work not because you're eating less calories, but because you've allowed your body to rid itself of insulin in the bloodstream. You cannot lose weight if there is insulin in your blood. Insulin signals the cells in your body to accept excess glucose from your blood as fat. Too much glucose can be poisonous, thats why we give diabetics insulin shots. Carbohydrates spike your blood sugar therefore your insulin drastically. So, when you don't eat for extended periods of time, your body allows itself to use that fat as energy.

It's a shot in the dark, but are you sure it's not anterior pelvic tilt? This particular tilt makes your abdominal muscles stretch and weak, making it appear to be a fat stomach. If you sit for extended periods, your likelihood of APT increases drastically.

Thanks @DhammaStep

What would be your advice then for losing belly fat?
28   DhammaStep   2021 Sep 1, 2:32pm

@Patrick

I strongly dislike giving suggestions without knowing the person. Everyone is different. It's why a naturally skinny person can say "oh yeah just count calories" while someone with high insulin resistance will struggle physically and psychologically with said advice.

If I had to offer some basic advice:

Do weight lifting in the morning, before you break your fast. Avoid cardio.
Reduce carbohydrate consumption across the board.
INCREASE saturated fat and cholesterol intake.
Exercises for better posture as well.

Also, definitely make sure you don't have anterior pelvic tilt. I can't emphasize this enough. Too many people struggle thinking they have a "fat" stomach when their core is just extremely weak from poor posture and excessive sitting. It only takes a few months of 8+ hours of poor sitting posture to completely throw your core out of balance. The image attached is a simple way to check. Stand relaxed. If your waistband is parallel to the floor, your pelvis is neutral. If it's not parallel, you've got a problem.

Can you show evidence for these recommendations?

I'm pretty sure reducing carbs will help, but I don't see the reasoning behind the others.
