We can even stop the Commodity manipulation and squeeze the Corporate Gamer Farmers, out and only small people just happy to eek out a modest living for them and their family will be willing to farm.
Corporate Farmer logic: "Potatoes only fetching 10 cents a pound? How dare those insolent consumer fucks! I'll just grow Soybeans and send them to China, then get the USDA to pay us for missed potato production. I'll call up all of my other corporate farmer buddies and tell them to do the same. When there's a potato shortage, we'll grow them and sell them for $2.00 a pound.
Small Farmer logic: "Potatoes only fetching 10 cents a pound? Oh well I guess we need to grow more, to make up the difference!"
