I used to drink Budweiser exclusively. I never got the beer snobs that griped about Budweiser calling it swill. And besides it wasn't like there was a large selection of beer at most stores. I liked it better than Miller, or Coors. Then in '92 they changed the Formula, and beer truly was Swill by that point. The flash fermenting ruined the beer, and I haven't liked it since. It's worse than Schlitz or Colt 45, was back in the day.
Thankfully around that same time, American markets opened up to more beer selection. I was drinking Presidente for a while, but when Inbev bought Budweiser they brought lots of beers from Europe and now I drink New Castle, Saint Pauly Girl, Becks, Weirsterstimer(?), and Anchor Steam, or Amber Boc, and Sammy Smith Oatmeal lager.
There are so many choices now I don't look back. But had Budweiser not changed their formula for the flash fermenting with the "Born on Date", I would still be drinking Bud.
I actually enjoyed it back then, no matter what the beer snobs said.

Has to be Bud bottle for me... cans can pick up that metallic aftertaste if they sit too long. And generally not Bud Light. Give me the real McCoy.

I miss Schlitz. It was my nickname in college.

Nowadays I don't drink much, but when I do its usually one of my homebrews.

My Dad drank Schiltz. So it was the first beer I ever drank. I can't believe my Dad never inquired what happened to a six pack of beer, and a pack of Cigarettes, when I used to lift them when I would go camping with the neighbor kid down the street.

I suspect he knew... My dad did, but he'd have my Mom's wrath if he had to explain, since she'd been on him to quit his vices for years... easier to let me slide so long as it didn't get out of hand.

I remember drinking bud lights that we lifted from the cooler and kept "cold" by hiding them in the nearby pond. (We couldn't pound them right away... that would be obvious.) Needless to say they were luke warm by the time we retrieved them for consumptuon.

The 1st time I visited Mazatlan we, 2 buddies and I, left the airport in a rental car and there was a huge billboard proclaiming how serious they were about drinking and driving. Next thing we know we are being passed by a pickup truck full of kids in the back. They all had open beers.

Their woes started long before InBev took over. And actually InBev buying them out, was the best thing to happen to Beer in America since Adolf Bush and Eberhard Anheuser first brewed beer in America.

They brought so much beer to our market. We had only three major beers for ever. And the import list on any menu, was Becks, StP Girl, and Corona that was it.
The new AB saw fit to bring Anhor, and Shinner Bac into my market. I'm normally pro American company, and an instution like Budweiser being taken over by the Belgiums, would have normally pissed me off royally.

But really the American AB company pre InBev, were fucking America over and keeping good beers from us, while they fucked with the tried and true formulas and was churning pure shit.

I think America was Blessed by the take over. One rare instance I would side with the take over.

And what Beer innovators does America have right now? Dick All that's what! These craft beers are purse shit as well. Fucking fruit and sour beers, my daughters by some craft beers that taste like piss and vinegar mixed. These hipster brewers are probably using some feminist vadge yeast to brew beer with.

I think the resurrection of the Anchor Steam brewing company is the biggest Beer contribution in America in over 30 years.


I distinguish Micro Breweries from Craft Brewers. Micro Breweries turn out product, not a flavor of the month with cartoonist labels and names.
Some of the micro breweries are good to. My market doesn't get enough of them. Like Lonestar Beer, Brooklyn Beer and a other regional brews we don't get. We get Anchor and Shiner though.

Best beer was Stroh's - produced in one factory, before they bought out Schlitz and essentially became Schlitz.

Can't remember the last time I drank a Budweiser.

I prefer a strong IPA's or red wine for my usual drink. There are too many good local IPA's where I live to count.

My garage fridge is filled with Michelob Ultra's in a bottle when I need hydration or if I have visitors who don't like strong beers.
