Kristi Lynn Noem (/noʊm/; née Arnold, November 30, 1971) is an American politician serving as the 33rd and current governor of South Dakota since 2019. A member of the Republican Party, she was the U.S. Representative for South Dakota's at-large congressional district from 2011 to 2019 and a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011. Noem was elected governor in 2018 and is South Dakota's first female governor.[1]

Early life, education and farming career[edit]
Kristi Arnold was born to Ron and Corrine Arnold in Watertown, South Dakota and raised with her siblings on the family ranch and farm in rural Hamlin County.[2] She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1990, and won the South Dakota Snow Queen title. She credited the experience with helping her polish her public speaking and promotional skills.[3] After high school, she enrolled at Northern State University. She married Bryon Noem at age 20.[4]

At 22, Noem left college to help run her family's ranch after her father was killed in a farm machinery accident.[2][5] Over the years, Noem added a hunting lodge and restaurant to the property, and all her siblings have moved back to help expand the businesses.[2]

After her father's accident, Noem stopped attending college full time but over the years took classes at the Watertown campus of Mount Marty College and at South Dakota State University.[2][3] After being elected to Congress, she continued her education, taking online courses and receiving credits for her work as a representative – leading the Washington Post to facetiously dub her Capitol Hill's "most powerful intern" for the number of college credits she received for internships.[6] She earned a B.A. in political science from South Dakota State University in 2012.[7]

The fact that the leftist propaganda publications are this unhinged about her policies tells you all you need to know

The FBI raid on President Trump’s home is an unprecedented political weaponization of the Justice Department. They’ve been after President Trump as a candidate, as President, and now as a former President. Using the criminal justice system in this manner is un-American.

Noem sold out women in sports. After vowing for months to sign a bill prohibiting males in female sports, she refused to sign, citing dangers to Collegiate Sports.

In actuality, her advisor was the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce Director who was acting to protect Sex Change Surgery at the city hospitals, and to be sure the NCAA didn't refuse to host competitions in the State.

The NCAA prohibits schools, and both their teams and individual athletes, from being penalized/ostracized from competition due to State Laws, so her rambling excuse was trash. Though the NCAA could refuse to host regional events in her state.

Yup, it's disappointing. Then you get to thinking ... "what kind of person wants to be in politics?". Narcissists at best, sociopaths at worst.

When you get right down to it, why would anyone be a politician or a cop --- because they like to tell other people what to do.

It's more than a little rare to find a woman that is both pretty and intelligent. Obviously, Noem is not an exception. How dumb can you possibly be to a) not euthanize your 'problem' dog by having it done humanely by a trained Vet, and b) actually shoot the dog yourself and then brag about it?

I actually had a relative that did this exact same thing. Rather than pay the measly amount to put his injured bird dog down, he took it into the back part of his property and shot it himself. When I found out about it, my opinion of this guy sunk like a rock. As time went on, he proved to be a very evil person.

Interesting debate where some people are like "Cityslickers don't understand farm life." and others are saying "I'm 4th generation farmer and I would pay a vet to put a dog like this down."

Really, the only thing the dog did wrong was attack the "Cluck" bird instead of "Quack" birds and could have been adopted away. She admitted she hated the dog, the kids loved the dog, and it only time it bit her was when the dog was in an attack frenzy. Most animals will reflexively attack - including humans - if grabbed in the middle of violence.

Yep. I remember that fiasco where she had legislation on her desk that banned biologically born men from competing in women's sports and then stupidly vetoed it. She had an opportunity to actually show leadership, but instead, decided to illustrate her weakness. Then, when every conservative criticized her over it, she stumbled all over her cow pasture attempting to back peddle, but kept falling into cow pies in the process.

Noem has about as much chance of being President as does Sarah Palin, which is zero.

I think she told the world about this because she doesn't want Trump to ask her.

I bet she didn't really shoot the puppy, either.

Our humanity and kindness is in our ability to reform an animal. I've done it several times. When I did dog rescue, I had very damaged animals, very damaged psychologically. My purpose in having them was to show them a better life. They are all dead by now, but that was a rewarding time of my life. I had a dog howl when I gave him up to another family, I couldn't keep him, but it was the best for him, the best I could do for him. It's difficult to find out what is the best thing to do.

She should have rehomed the dog. I have put down a dangerous dog, when I had to do that, I realized I failed and couldn't literally fix anything. I thought I could up until that point. I ended her life, and that ended a part of mine. I was the sucker of my rescue group, I got the worst of the worst dogs, always was successful, until I got her, I couldn't save her. If I couldn't, could anybody? I wish I could have found somebody better than me in this regard.

It would have been probably trivial for me to reform Noem's dog for me. No reason to kill it. I feel guilt when she does not. No regret no guilt, that's what I consider an evil person. Banal evil.
18   Tenpoundbass   2024 May 3, 7:30am

here's my problem with what she did. She says in her book she says she mentioned it to show how she can make tough choices.
The problem with that, the majority of people will see it as the most brash reckless decision. What happens if I get out of line will she take me to the gravel pit too?

She may have had her reasons, but that's one of those things you should not consider one of you proudest moments.

And that is the most serious crime of all. Once you get past the dead puppy thing.
19   Tenpoundbass   2024 May 3, 7:36am

Had the story been told by someone else, saying she once took her 18 month dog out back and shot it. Her reasoning and defense may have been valid.
It's just not one of those things you write a book about, to boast about your leadership skills. I'm just glad she's off the Trump Veep list.
I think she would have been a back stabber. I remember during covid, she capitulated to the commies and didn't host a fireworks show, because the commies told her she couldn't. After that, I wrote her off as an establishment sleeper cell. If she were POTUS she would surely do their bidding.

That's my problem with Tulsi. She seems pretty awesome but she may be a Trojan horse if Trump picks her as vp.

Rand Paul would be a decent VP pick.

Doesn't matter anyhow. They stole the fucking election last time, of course they'll do it again. The next time it matters who you vote for will be after a bloody revolution to re-instate the Republic.

Did anyone not learn anything from Trump's 1st stint in office?
Trump needs everyone that is on his side, in an office where they can help him and pass legislation to push the MAGA agenda. Also be there to shoot down the rabid commie liberals that want to turn hyperbole in serious crimes against humanity. Trump needs to be endorsing and stumping harder for Congressional, Senate, Governor and every office candidate that he can get. At this point he's a man that needs little introduction or advertisement. He should focus all of his campaign energy and resources on getting the right help elected to supporting offices. That was his biggest mistake in 2016, assuming he could do it all alone.

Rand Paul is needed where he's at. Rand Paul has some authority as a Senator. The Veep is just window dressing. They can do more to stab the sitting president in the back, than they can to affect meaningful policy or get any agenda done. A Veep is a useless seat, unless they are a saboteur.

Before Trump was elected I learned that corporations wrote the bills that were passed into law. They were written in Microsoft Word and were able to trace exactly who modified it, where, and when.

How can nobody fucking remember this? We went though all this fucking effort to expose how things actually work - what a goddamned waste of time that was.

The last fucking election was stolen. He's not going to be allowed to be president again. 51 intelligence "ex" agents lied about Hunter Biden's laptops, it took weeks to collect the ballots, we had counties where more votes than registered voters existed, none of the judicial challenges were allowed, our media lied about everything, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube deleted video evidence and censored people.

This is not a democratic republic, it's an oligarchical dictatorship.

Doesn't matter how fucking obvious it is, you're going to stay in la-la land and pretend it isn't.

The time to fix this shit was 20 years ago, but good fucking luck convincing people what was going on. It's too late now. I thought 2008 was our last chance, turns out it was.

We will never be allowed to have another person with real power that was elected. That's done.

Right after her shooting the little puppy Cricket story, the Kristi Noem train wreak continues ...

Kristi Noem under pressure for alleged tall tale about meeting Kim Jong Un

“Through my tenure on the House Armed Services Committee, I had the chance to travel to many countries to meet with world leaders,” Noem wrote in the book, according to the outlet. “I remember when I met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. I’m sure he underestimated me, having no clue about my experience staring down little tyrants (I’d been a children’s pastor, after all).

“Dealing with foreign leaders takes resolve, preparation and determination,” Noem continues. “My experiences on those many foreign trips made me a better member of Congress and a stronger governor. It allowed me to hone my deal-making skills, which play a crucial role in leadership.”
