That's a well known story. The issue of giants, like other things they don't want anybody knowing about, is swamped with targeted disinformation to disgrace the concept (typical tactic for hiding history).
The Smithsonian shows up when skeletons are unearthed claiming to offer aid and conservator assistance, take the evidences, which are never heard from again, and threaten those who discovered them. Whether they are destroyed or stored somewhere is anybody's guess.

Giant remains were also discovered on the Santa Catalina Islands of all places. There are many variations of hominids and humanoids that are not revealed for whatever religious or political control purposes.
