The South was fighting for economic independence from the North. The South was under severe taxation which was crippling their economy from the people in NY (city), and was subsidizing the north by being forced to do this. They were the producers of the country at the time. The propaganda today is that it was about "slavery" - slavery was a part of it, because that was part of the economic system in the South, but no northern farmer left his homestead to freed "a bunch of niggers", and nearly EVERYBODY would be considered a racist back then. VERY few people cared about the plight of the slaves - and in fact, there were plenty of slaves AFTER the civil war, Chinese were basically slaves - they built major parts of our rail road system, this wasn't right of course, it was complete exploitation.

The Nazis were fighting for independence from the European banking system. The Versailles Treaty had completely impoverished the country (and Germany didn't start that war! Why were they being so fucked?) - Hitler just stopped paying WWI war reparations, and instead invested the time and energy of the country into Germany instead of the rest of Europe.
