Report: George H.W. Bush apologizes after 'sexual assault' allegation

Former President George H.W. Bush has apologized after actress Heather Lind accused him of sexually assaulting her during a screening of her AMC show, according to a published report.

The alleged incident occurred four years ago, as Lind posed for a photo with Bush while promoting the AMC show “Turn: Washington's Spies,” the Daily Mail reported.

Lind wrote on Instagram Tuesday that Bush touched her “from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side,” told her a “dirty joke,” and then touched her again.

Lind claimed that Barbara Bush “rolled her eyes” at Bush, “as if to say ‘not again.’”

According to the post, which has since been deleted, a nearby security guard told Lind that she “shouldn’t have stood next to him for the photo.”

A representative for Bush, now 93, admitted that the former president might have erred in his “attempt at humor,” the Daily Mail reported.

“President Bush would never — under any circumstance — intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind," Bush's statement said, the Daily Mail reported.

He merely touched her? Like on her arm?

Not even a full hand on her ass or a tit, squeezing?

What kind of lame "sexual assault" is that?

Patrick said "what kind of sexual assault is that?"

You aren't paying attention. His camp came out and admitted it's common that when posing for a picture he grabs ass and makes a lame joke about his favorite magician "David Cop-A-Feel".

So how is it sexual assault?

You're splitting hairs if you're telling me fondling is what happened in this case. That's a reach. Touching someone, even on the ass, through clothing is clearly not sexual assault. Inappropriate would be the word I'd use to describe it. That's about all this was.

Funny it took four years for this to come out though.

You do know the line he uses is " David cop a feel" after grabbing ass.

Just saying

So? He could have touched her ass and said he was going to fuck her brains out and it woulnd't have changed anything. It's inappropriate and distasteful at worst. Not sexual assault. Would I be pissed if I caught my own son doing something like that, absolutely, not saying it's right.

The claim of being assaulted is completely outrageous and makes REAL sexual assault accusations less likely to be take seriously. Remember, this took four years to tell someone. It obviously happened, but methinks there's another motive behind bringing this to light now. Every woman who has ever been touched now is going to come forward and claim sexual assault for the most minor "touch." This woman should be shouted down and ignored. She's doing more harm then good to woman by even making this a thing.

Blurtman said you are splitting hairs if you are telling me fondling is what happened in this case."

How so? Here's a quote from the story linked to the Cop A feel thread:

"He reached his right hand around to my behind, and as we smiled for the photo he asked the group 'do you know who my favorite magician is' she said. "As I felt his hand dig into my flesh he said 'David Cop-a-feel!"

If we assume this is an accurate account how is it not sexual assault?

Not sure if this was directed at me as the first line doesn't make sense. Look up the definition of sexual assault per the Justice Department in my previous comment.

Is this a graphic novel? Who the fuck actually speaks like that? She had clothing on. And I'm sure a late 80's guy in a wheel chair has a crunching grip to tear apart her ass. If it was a problem, then she should have called him out on it on the spot, not 4 years later. My guess is he put his arm around her ass, sitting in a wheelchair and made a corny joke and his wife rolled her eyes. I've seen this quite possible hundreds of times around older couples. This isn't sexual assault by definition and to claim otherwise is disingenuous. It's honestly harmful to woman that have actually been assault as no one will now believe them. Or will be less likely to believe them.

Wookie said "he could have touched her ass and said he was going to fuck her brains out and it wouldn't have changed anything. It's inappropriate and distasteful at worst. Not sexual assault."

Actually, that is a literal textbook case of sexual assault. The sexual aspect is clear and the legal definition of "assault" is ANY touching of another, no matter how slight. In legal terms we assault people on a near daily basis as we bump them on the street, or tapped them on the shoulder to ask if a seat is taken.

Don't get me wrong, even if it is textbook, no prosecutor would never waste resources pursuing a case this slight. Many times they would even come out and say that yes it qualifies but it's a waste of taxpayer funds to pursue this.

It's not textbook though. He put his arm around her for a photo opp that she wanted. She wanted to be there. Taking a photo with any famous person almost ALWAYS involves some contact. EVERY single famous person would be in jail if what you claim were true.

He made a joke in bad taste. He could have said, "great tits" and it still doesn't make it assault. If you can prove what you're saying is true, I've got a new gig then. Any famous person doing a book signing or public appearance, I'm going to get a photo with them and will then file a police report for assault every time they touch me or put their arm around me for the photo op. I'll then sue them in civil court for pain and suffering damaging because I was assaulted and I'll be a millionaire.
13   anonymous   2017 Oct 27, 12:16pm

Blurtman - yes that comment was directed towards you, but you note I specifically asked for you to opine as to whether it's sexual assault, if we take her assertion at face value. You are obviously disputing her account and thus answering A different question then I asked you.

As I was explaining to wookie The reality is all of us have legally "assaulted" someone perhaps hundreds of times, and many of us have probably "sexually assaulted" dozens of women with a boob or ask grab. I know I have. Again though the reason there are no consequences is because it would be a huge waste of resources to pursue every case where some special snowflake felt she was violated.

In other words in the eyes of the law, yes you were sexually assaulted, but in the world of limited resources we live in, tough shit lady.

Is something up with the site or is the anon just crazy? Blurtman is the OP and I'm not seeing any comments from him, yet this anon keeps reply to him.

So does he have to grab her by the pussy before its sexual assault?

Is putting your arm around a woman, as you're sitting in a wheelchair, for a photo op that she chose to be a part of considered sexual assault? And making a bad joke? If it is only her account taken seriously, that an 80 year old man "dug into her flesh" then sure, call it sexual assault I suppose. Celebrities and athletes better start calling their attorneys now tough. If this sets a new precedent, every single famous person is going to be accused of sexual assault. Say good by to 80% of the talent on TV and in movies if what happened here is considered legit sexual assault.

*EDIT* meant goodbye, but I'll let it stand for authenticity sake.

Danger, danger! A centennial wanker in a wheelchair touched a womyn! WTF?? Fucking leftoids and Recucks. Look, if womyn don't want to be touched by men there's Islam to the rescue where men refuse to touch womyn and you even get a safe space of a couple of feet behind the man that you serve. Just emigrate to the middle-east already and we'll import some Russian brides in turn.
