The police use asset forfeiture to extort wealth from people they know are completely innocent. The out-of-state family threatened with arrest, delay, legal expenses, and having their children violently taken from them on the spot unless they pay the police's "protection fee" of all the cash, jewelry, and electronics they have on them. This constitutes many felonies including
1. Grand theft
2. Armed robbery
3. False arrest
4. Perjury
5. Filing false reports of crimes
6. False imprisonment
7. Obstruction of justice
8. Reckless endangerment of children
9. Terrorism
10. Conspiracy to comment all the above felonies

Every agent of the state, including every police officer, who used asset forfeiture should be imprisoned for life without possibility of parole.

My hope is that one day, an armed FBI agent is traveling with his family and cops try this on him. He uses his driver's license as an ID and doesn't say he's an FBI agent. Then when they pull this crap, he identifies himself as a FBI agent and arrests them on the spot. That would be sweet justice.

There should be zero tolerance for corruption and crime in law enforcement. Criminal cops endanger the public. They endanger children. They undermine our legal system. And they endanger law-abiding cops. They literally terrorize people and communities. They should be treated as the terrorists they are.

Yes, this is one of the reasons that Obama was even worse than Bush. He was terrible on human and civil rights just like Bush and expanded upon Bush's policies as well as the war on drugs. How the hell anyone calls Obama a liberal is beyond me.

Trump would be rightfully hated for continuing or expanding this policy of corruption and crime. That said, Hillary Clinton certainly would have continued and expanded it. Bernie Sanders would have ended it.

I'd love it if Trump were to surprise me and be the good guy on this issue by outlawing all asset forfeiture and police confiscation of private property to be used by the police or sold by them for profit for themselves. These policies almost demand corruption by providing extremely perverse incentives for the police to break major laws. I would love it if Trump ended this, but I doubt he will, and he would be yet another bad president if he continues the policy.

I don't expect Trump to be a good president even though I'd love to be pleasantly surprised. However, a disastrous Trump presidency will serve to injury the Republican Party and allow the opposition to clean house in the Democratic Party. There would have been no chance of that with Hillary.
