All right, a thread on Amsterdam's RLD vs New England (meaning Boston, Providence, outer NYC 'burbs, etc) was put out.

http://patrick.net/If+I'd+grown+up+in+Amsterdam+instead+of+New+England

Now, here's the next issue for me. Even though I'll be finished with this work next year, I'm going to do some *premed* activities (firm related), apply and attend a US medical school And thus, I'd be separated from my dream of living in Australia, where there are plenty of legal brothels.

Since this limits, let's say, the telecommuting role of being a distance student, I'll need something to keep my loins occupied during those long hard nights of physiology and hematology. So how about buying a Real Doll, to get me through these rough years in America, before I can spread my wings abroad?

Here's what they look like. They are anatomically correct and thus, can provide hours of stress relief w/o needing to waste time on dates and meeting ppl.

Why not go to medical school in Europe?

In other parts of the world, medical school is considered undergraduate whereas in the USA, it's a graduate/professional program.

Also, US schools take ppl of any age bracket and are considered more prestigious, in terms of academic medicine. Since my goal is to do my own research, those sorts of things matter.

Granted, I'm not convinced of this prestige nonsense, however, if one decides to later retire in Australia/NZ etc, a US MD will be good to have at conferences and meetings with other researchers. The halo effect of America's academia is still there, outside of the country.

MD ... Baylor, Washington U, Mayo Clinic, Hopkins, Columbia-NY Presbyterian, etc, still hold some cachet.

MMR or Thunderlips, isn't this one of your topics? Any feedback?

Yeah...I agree that when you are trying to build a name in academic medicine, Europe can be good...but the system in the US is designed for the best American students to get the best residencies

I agree that mass General, mayo, Cleveland clinic, Columbia et al hold cachet throughout the world and if you want to publish studies and present around the world those credentials are highly beneficial.

I also think that you might meet some Alanis morrissettes in med school. I don't really consider myself a male chauvinist but I've generally found that I usually hate working with female attendings and female students are often more overzealous about proving they belong.

I still think that no strings attached sexual encounters are doable while in med school but, since you always are teaching yourself anyway and you are evaluated mostly by exam performance. I don't know if you are completely obligated to go to class during your basic sciences years.

Clinical years may really crimp your lifestyle but the volume of reading is less than basic sciences

I know you're shooting for the moon so getting top grades is important as is getting AOA but don't bask in the hype too much. Since you would be independently wealthy and have an unconventional approach, that's less of a concern

Med school isn't really the place to let your creativity shine. People are somewhat intelligent but not intelligent enough to know about things they don't know about. Most of the top schools have a low morale work environment and are highly politicized

Real Dolls, screw that.

Go somewhere cheap and telecommute from there. Brothels or Escorts are pretty much legal everywhere in South America. You can also hang out in Thailand or Indonesia, surprising variety in the latter, from snow white Chinese to dusky . Of course Brazil has all kinds, but Rio isn't the cheap place it was 10-15 years ago where you could have picked up an Ipanema apartment for $100k.

A guy I know once had two bar girls, one under each arm. These British dudes walked past him and said "Aren't you a greedy gus?"

McGill University, Montreal. Penis friendly country, school seems to be a well kept secret with high reputation, not that expensive compared to US Ivies.

8   MMR   2015 Dec 13, 10:26pm

McGill is a good idea except that in order to qualify for admission, Rin has to be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

Given the fact that Montreal is the numero uno tourist destination for any horny dude living in driving *New England* distance, I'd agree, however, as an international applicant, my chances are close to zero.

I'd almost guarantee it.

Yes, my admissions counselor and I have strategized this one pretty well. For me, I just need to get a 35 (or above) on the MCAT, on the next pass and then, I'll have a number of interviews, provided I play the game as a *fund raiser*. For course, since I need to prove to Marcus that I'm smarter than your normal Harvardian, I'm shooting for ~40, but whatever.

MMR says

Med school, in effect, replaces the traditional PhD in the sciences. There are no qualifiers and no dickweed advisors, wasting a person's 6 to 10 years of his life. In medical school, you are guaranteed graduation within 4 years. As for creativity, that's up to the individual, not the parent institution nor its degree program.

Basically, if you're in the field of medicine/health care, you may think that Johns Hopkins is a place full of anal retentive freaks, which BTW, I agree with, the world sees it as ... America's Plato Academy of Medicine. So really, it doesn't matter. The name goes far.

If that is the case he had better be a high scoring "development admit" ...but even if he never went to class the first two years, you still have to show up for exams.

Also this would not be possible during the clinical years unless you had breaks between your rotations

It would pretty much be impossible during residency, outside of vacation time, which is typically one month broken up into two two week holidays

Yep, which is how the RealDoll came up because I won't even have time to visit Montreal regularly.

McGill doesn't offer a backdoor for rich Canadians whereas the US schools do, for rich Americans, by virtue of being a faux-meritocratic system. In other words, in America, money talks.

Let's face it, if I were Rin Rockefeller, today, I'd have Washington Univ, Hopkins, Harvard, Mayo, Columbia, etc, all beating down my door to get me in.

It doesn't quite work the same way up in Canada, because many Canadian places are these poor middle class chump institutes. The rich folks don't buy up buildings, expand them, and such, like they do down here. And thus, even a filthy rich Canadian, would rather plunk his cash into some buildings in North Carolina, thus making his road to Duke easier than wasting his time up north.

13   MMR   2015 Dec 13, 11:29pm

If you are ready to get 35-40+ on the MCAT and donate at the level to have a building named after you, you'll essentially be a rock star.. Honestly hos would be lining up to bang you like you are Ron Perelman. Just make sure that everyone else know it, as douchey as it sounds and get a car befitting of your status although I know you strive to be low key in terms of showing material wealth. It will help in cultivating the rock star persona, which will bring you a new ho every day of the week. If you want minimal hassles with peers and watch them lick your ass, you will have to spend money to cultivate the persona (dapper dressing, nice digs and nice car). IOW look like a person who can donate a building and you can get a new piece every other week. (In addition to actually donating a building)

If they ain't licking your ass, they are working actively to kick it. Life is easier in med school to the extent that you can mitigate adversarial relationships.

It's easier to win the popularity contest instead of dealing with snide condescension about being a miser. That will almost certainly have an adverse negative effect on your sexual life/health/psychological well-being . I can't think of how a doll can compensate for the real thing during clinical and residency years.

While SOME Might be ALanis morrissette, it is far better than dealing with being this super rich guy who is perceived as weird and socially awkward having to face a peer group everyday who has contempt for you/jealous/resentful. Once people conclude that your wealth has no chance of being a benefit to them EVER, they will cease to associate with you in any meaningful way or cooperate with you, if they decide they want to show you up. If people can't have the opportunity to feel so much as popular or cool because they associate with you, your goose is cooked. Going through med school living on an island is probably not the most ideal scenario.

Hate to say it but, most people in the med school setting are extremely superficial...nurses and attendings mostly treated me well throughout med school not because I was the most brilliant person, but because I am polite respectful, professional and above average in the looks department/dress sharply with good oral hygiene

Not your concern, apparently, but the MD/PhD route allows one to graduate debt free. From what I can tell, there is a hierarchy of med schools, and even if you are the same brilliant fellow with a degree from a lowly ranked school, you may not be looked at the same as the same brilliant fellow from USCF, for example. You never said what type of doctor you'd want to be, but clearly some schools are stronger in certain areas than others.

Unfortunately, that's not me. That's my alter ego, born as a Rockefeller. And yes, it's kind obvious, judging the fact that even the great scion David Rockefeller, only got a single 'A' at Harvard, showing that being rich doesn't make one a diligent student, nevermind Bush, Gore, or Kerry, a.k.a certified morons.

And Dave's single 'A' granted him admissions to the PhD program at the University of Chicago, founded by his granddad. Wow! The rich are really impressing me now with their alleged meritocracy.

Instead, I'll be the financier who's a major fund raiser for medical institutions. I won't have enough bank for *personal* donations, however, I'll be able to get our clients to do that for us which makes me an important piece of the puzzle.

I don't know if you knew, but MDs, even w/o the MD/PhD, have done postdocs at UCSF, Wash, Columbia, Hopkins, Mayo, Harvard, etc, and have gotten the affiliations with those alpha organizations.

Sure, and there are MD/PhD's who choose to practice as well. I think you may hear that getting a good post doc will be quite competitive.

If you want to work in the biopharmaceutical industry, then working at an institution with ties to pharma and in a vibrant biotech area might be a consideration. That would rule in Boston/Cambridge, San Diego, Bay Area, DC/Maryland and some might argue Houston.

18   MisdemeanorRebel   2015 Dec 15, 9:14am

Rin, I gotta tell you that Boston is not known for hot women generally. New York is much better.

When you think about dating, how about looking for a Hot Chani? You might have to convert, but if you want a gal who devotes herself to you and is traditional, they're your kind. In fact, I think that's a good place to start looking: Traditional Chicks.

Damn some of those girls are hot, I used to work on Madison Ave just across the street from an Haredi Women's center, and I'd say about 50% of them were over "7" on the hot scale, even with their modest clothes you could tell. And most of the married ones were MILFs, too.

The Haredi teach all women in school that her man is "always worth a deuce", to wear sexy lingerie, etc. Gene Simmons (born Chaim Witz ) was raised a Conservative, here he is talking about the Bible and telling his woman to "Do the things it says to do".

Both Boston and NYC have women with attitudes.

And thus, it's better to reject 'em both and bang hoes up in Montreal or anywhere else in the world.

As long as you can prove it upfront prior to gaining admission, that could be the equivalent of donating a building
