Once upon a time, much of the state of California was a barren desert. And now, thanks to the worst drought in modern American history, much of the state is turning back into one. Scientists tell us that the 20th century was the wettest century that the state of California had seen in 1000 years. But now weather patterns are reverting back to historical norms, and California is rapidly running out of water. It is being reported that the state only has approximately a one year supply of water left in the reservoirs, and when the water is all gone...

I suggest that we take an ihateus from all legislation, and take the money that would normally go to the less than worthless mutts and put it towards some sort of water channel or a desal plant. Oh and fuck the snail darter put the water back to the farms.

Check out the link on this thread sometime when you get a chance. The discussion format is similar to patrick.net.

Lets see. CA is facing a permanent drought, exodus of working/middle class, massive debt and pension liabilities......it should make houses there worth at least a million dollars/sq. foot!

On a serious note. Not good for all who eat fruits, nuts, vegetables. There could be a "grapes of wrath" type exodus from CA .

Remember, Agriculture uses much, much more water than residential. You can eliminate a huge chunk of residential use in one fell swoop: Ban green grass lawns in a near desert. Or charge separately for hygiene and landscaping, with the later billed at 1000% more.

B-b-but, I'm entitled to my Scott Lawn in the middle of an Arid Climate!

We really do need federal investment in California water. The crops grown here are distributed nationwide, adding to the health and wealth of the nation's people. The federal government can give a little back to this state that already gets back much less than it gives, 73% at last estimate! Unless you want the golden state to become the dust bowl state, and have to ship all your veggies from Peru.

There's nothing wrong with California that another ten million people on welfare won't solve. Pack 'em in, baby!
