If the hyperinflationistas are right (fat chance), then this isn't an issue. From 1978 to 1985, inflation was 65% according to CPI.

$9.32 + 65% = $15.38.

Of course, from 1998 to 2005, inflation was only about 20%, and from 2007 to now, it's only been about 14%, both according to CPI.
