This, I'm-so-CUTE!, news reading bimbo did not mention pain relief, treating chronic pain, or the rampant under-treatment of chronic pain due to DEA monitoring of physicians.
Addiction rates at the turn of the 20th century, when a 12 year old kid could walk into a drug store and walk out with Laudanum or a cocaine compound, were exactly the same as they are now, after a century of mass incarceration and hysteria.

God damn it, don't screw up a perfectly good drug war, not to mention lots of ideological ranting, by introducing facts. Next you'll be telling us that countries that have legalized drugs have the same or lower addiction rates than America.
Why are you un American? Cops, courts, prison guards, contractors, large corporations are all so totally deserving of the money that flows from the war on drugs. Just ask them. What would happen to the unemployment rate if all those people got out of jail. What would happen if police couldn't simply seize your property without having to prove you did anything wrong. What would happen if local yokel police forces couldn't get get tanks, machine guns, and apc's. The entire fabric of American life would unravel. I can't believe you are so self centered and unpatriotic.
