Congress passed a law in 2008 to prevent the US from sending aid and military assistance to nations that employ child soldiers. However, the White House is now scaling back that law, saying in a memo last week, "... it is in the national interest of the United States to waive the application of the prohibition of the [Child Soldiers Prevention Act] with respect to Chad, South Sudan, and Yemen."
