Why is Govenor Deval(ue) dummying up, and refusing to release the welfare records of the Boston Marathon Terrorist Bombers?

Maybe because he was caught in a lie, saying that the Tamerian clan were getting EBT/SSI/WIC/Mass Health benefits AFTER Dec 2012 up till and including the time the bombs went off at the Marathon?

Maybe he would be afraid to know that tax payer $$ went towards the purchase of the pressure-cookers and the explosives (confirmed by firework purchases in NH?

Well, if we are getting blown up by the same people stealing our $$, I think we have a right to know how they got the $$, when and for how long. But the liberals here in Massachusetts are mum, and want this problem to go away.

If any liberal STILL doesn't agree that welfare reform should happen here in Massachusetts (photo ID, EBT cards only work in Supermarkets, ie, not a 'cash-card', IN-STATE use only), I'd love to hear your ignorance....

I don't think what kind of shoes the brothers wore, or whether they were on food stamps. or whether they were selling drugs and boosting stereos to pay the bills has dick-all to do with their terrorist bombing.

It doesn't. It's typical right-winger bait-and-switch to try and connect whatever is in the news to one of their pet causes. In this case, eliminating assistance to the poor.

Don't be surprised to see some wingnut post a piece about how cutting taxes for the rich will go a long way toward preventing terrorism.

Because as it stands now, it's been proven ad nauseum that EBT cards are
being used for booze, drugs, bail, strip clubs, casinos OUT OF STATE.. I guess
you are OK w/ the status quo?

I guess you are OK w/ Deval Patrick protecting the 'privacy' of dead
terrorist welfare dead-beats? Freedom of Information anyone? Hello?

Oh, and finally, I'd will be confirming some good news out of Florida: In
that you have to take a drug test to get welfare benefits. FINALLY! IF this is
true, I hope my state starts to think about enacting this. It's a no-brainer.
One and done. I'll start another thread on this, if confirmed true...

Food stamps has an explicit vendor list that is strictly for food, and only certain types of food also. The EBT card, which I understand is like a debit card, is used by multiple states to pay for whatever programs they have. You automatically assume that it's food stamps or rent assitance, but it is often used to pay people wages, such as paroled convicts. You can thank the republicans for handing that EBT gift to the big banks so they get to siphon off some of that money to maintain their system and it's profits.

But, it's doubtful at best about places like a strip bar, because they have to fill out vendor info to be in the network so the transaction is authorized.

Drug tests? You better be prepared to defend that endeavor and it's application to ALL benefits, to include other forms of welfare/subsidies. Especially considering that most of the fraud in food stamps is by the vendors over-charging/double billing, or adding on extra fees. I personally would find it VERY amusing to make every hayseed-Jethro-farmer/welfare king collecting crop insurance pee in a cup, they're also the ones that pay big money to members of the ag committee too. But who wins with that? The lab/hospital industry???/

Finehoe,

When in this thread did I EVER mention eliminating 'assistance to the poor'? Hmm? I'm talking about Deval Patrick not fixing the broken EBT system here in Massachusetts.... Care to comment or defend Deval Patrick in denying us access to the terrorist welfare records?

................."I was in this housing forum that had a political sub-forum, and I brought up the fact that Deval Patrick is denying anyone from accessing welfare records for a couple of welfare deadbeats that happened to kill 3 people and maimed at least 180 w/2 bombs during the Boston Marathon, then went on to kill an MIT cop execution style in cold blood. I asked why Deval Patrick is denying us the right to view the records of tax-payer funded welfare benefits to these terrorists, and the only replies I got from liberals involved name-calling, false accusations that I wanted to eliminate welfare, and basically ranting off-topic and avoiding the main argument of the thread. But once everyone knew A-FUCK was radicalized by the far left, he was completely unable to discuss the topic in hand, nor give anyone a straight answer as to why he defends Deval Patrick on this topic, or care to defend the fine job that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is doing when it comes to distributing pure cash through a long discussed, obviously flawed EBT system.

46   marcus   2013 Apr 27, 3:05am

Quigley says

I agree. So we have a responsible father shortage. Which means that a new generation of boys grow up to believe that this is how things are done. They perpetuate the cycle with the girls of their generation, and on and on it goes. Sorry if this applies to any hood you know of already.

Meanwhile girls are taught that they don't need a man (they have the government to support them), and that marriage is totally optional for having kids, and to expect impossible and contradictory things from any man stupid enough to commit to them. Which of course will drive away when it becomes too much to deal with, creating yet another broken home that the governmental have to pay for. It's a failed model, but our broken culture is pushing it full steam ahead!

Understanding the downside of the welfare culture is one thing.

Addressing it in a realistic way is quite another. People blame "the liberals" but we have a system that doesn't have enough jobs, let alone jobs that cover the cost of living.

The welfare system is the sorry ass way that we redistribute from those that make far far above the cost of living. (except we don't really, it's just part (not even close to the biggest part), of our deficit spending).

We need higher, more progressive taxes is the real issue. Put people to work, for a little more than what they get on welfare. Give them a little dignity, and that would undue the viscous cycle you're talking about.

What's your solution? Shanty towns ?

I see it as a shitty way to make up for incomes and it's taken 2-3 decades to get this free-market utopia that the right wing, and big and small business wanted. Why pay more if the government will make up the difference in what it costs to survive(and survive poorly at that). This is WalMart's business philosophy, and they carry it out every day, in every store in every state.

Also, every bit of food stamps, and rent support, goes to a private entitiy or individual, and PROFITS are made in the process. Ironically quite a few of the people that collect those profiits from the disparity of people, BITCH about it too. How much economic activity/GDP is generated by transfer and increased demand because of those food stamps/section 8 assistance, not to mention that the prices for such are often inflated because of the government paying the bill.

49   AverageBear   2013 Apr 30, 2:49am

And now..... we know the rest of the story.

So now we understand why Deval Patrick tried to 'hide' the welfare records from the public. I guess when you champion a flawed EBT/welfare system, where it had no problem dispensing around $100K to dead-beats who were on a terrorist FBI watch list over a 2 year period, you hide it till someone mentions that you are breaking the law. Bravo, Massachusetts. You've displayed to the world how proud you are of your flawed welfare system.

So before you lie about what I said (finehoe), or project your barn-yard fantasies to change the subject (Vic), or completely ignore the topic at hand (A-Fuck), take a peek at the link below. Anyone care to comment on the failed/flawed welfare system that "Patrick's Board of Unhinged Liberals" care to comment on? Please spare me the neo-fascist name-calling bullshit. Spare me the off-topic "GOP sucks" comments. Anyone care to comment or defend why Massachusett's welfare system is A-OK, flawed or otherwise? Anyone think it needs improving?

Obviously the MA welfare agency needs complete and comprehensive investigative powers over every resident of the state so that every person is subject to a no-holds-barred background check. The HHS should hook into the databases of the FBI, CIA, NSA, IRS, Interpol, the KGB, and everyone who applies for welfare should have their phones tapped, their mail opened, their every move recorded before their application is even considered.

you are 100% wrong about EBT, it can be cashed out .. CASH is then used however the worthless fuck wants to use it .. buy beer, drugs, pussy, whatever. And the EBT cards have been used on vacations, casinos, and strip clubs. Deal with it. Welfare is the gangsters meal ticket. Section 8, WIC, EBT, HeadStart, free medical, free dental, free legal, free meds, bus pass, and free college education .... all placed in the lap of the gangsters baby mama, just for getting knocked up at the king-sin-yetta. And the gangsta daddy lives happy ever after.

Billions Lost in Tax-Refund Scam

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303404704577309854181227634.html

Federal authorities are struggling to crack down on what they describe as a widespread scheme that has already likely defrauded the Internal Revenue Service of billions of dollars using the stolen identities of Puerto Rican citizens.

The perpetrators of the scheme, authorities say, swipe the Social Security numbers of Puerto Rican citizens, who don't have to pay federal income tax—and are less likely to be on the IRS radar—and use their information to file fake returns. In some cases, they enlist U.S. mail carriers to intercept the refund checks that are disbursed.

The plot, which includes participants from around the U.S. and Latin America, has been around for at least five years. Prosecutors have obtained multiple convictions but none involving those believed to be among the top players in the operation, according to several people briefed on investigations into the fraud.

Wrong, as usual. Here's the link to the MA site that says SPECIFICALLY what can't be bought or things paid for with the EBT card.

http://www.massresources.org/tafdc-use-benefits.html

Are there rules about what I can buy with my cash benefits?
What you cannot buy:

You are not allowed to use your DTA cash benefits to pay for any of the following products and services:

•alcoholic beverages
•tobacco products
•lottery tickets
•sexually explicit material
•firearms or ammunition
•vacation services
•tattoos, body art, or piercings
•jewelry
•court-ordered fees or penalties, including bail or bail bonds
•gambling
If you purchase any of these items with your cash benefits, you will be required to pay back the amount you spent. For a second offense, you will also lose your cash benefits for two months; and for a third offense, you will lose your cash benefits permanently. See EBT Card Restrictions: What You Cannot Buy - English and Spanish for more information.

Where you cannot shop:

Some types of businesses are not allowed to accept EBT payments in their shops:

•liquor stores
•adult bookstores or entertainment
•cruise ships
•firearms and ammunition dealers
•tattoo parlors
•manicure shops
•jewelry stores
•rent-to-own stores
Stores that violate these rules can be fined. See Where You Can't Shop With Your EBT Card - English and Spanish for more information.

Food stamp fraud on rise in Brockton, across state

http://www.enterprisenews.com/answerbook/brockton/x2053821980/Food-stamp-fraud-on-rise

“This trafficking EBT cards has become a professional crime ring here in Massachusetts and I’m sure all over the country as well,” state Rep. Shaunna O’Connell, R-Taunton, said Friday. “I think the abuse is far more widespread than anyone knows of at this point.”

On Thursday, state police detectives assigned to the Middleton’s office assisted Brockton police in executing five search warrants and eight arrest warrants for trafficking food stamps and larceny.

The stores involved and charged with trafficking food stamps were 28 Corner Convenience (B&D Mart), 95 Montello St.; JP Communications, 69 North Montello St.; Lucky Dollar, 284 North Main St.; Rice’s Market, 769 North Main St.; and Dip N Sip, 235 North Main St.

The investigation found the store owners and clerks were engaging in a scheme that involved illegally exchanging food stamps for cash, according to the district attorney’s office.

On several occasions since May, undercover officers would go into the stores and present electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards to the clerk. The clerk would swipe the customer’s card, pretending the customer bought groceries and then give them cash, said authorities.

For example, if the EBT customer wanted $50 cash, the store owner would swipe the card for $100, which would be credited to the store, and then give the customer the cash in exchange.

Here's the paste from the Mass site:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do I use my SNAP EBT card?
To use your SNAP EBT card to pay for food at the food store checkout, slide your card through the card reader, then enter your four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) on the keypad and press the "Enter" or "OK" button. This automatically subtracts the cost of your food from your SNAP food stamps EBT account. (If the store does not have a card reader or it is not working, the cashier can fill out a form for you to sign.)

Whenever you buy food with your card, your receipt will show the amount of money left in your SNAP EBT account. You can also call EBT Customer Service at 1-800-997-2555 to get your EBT balance.

Note: Massachusetts does not yet have online access to personal EBT information such as transactions or EBT balance. For updates, see Online EBT SNAP Accounts on the USDA web site.

If you do not use all of your SNAP benefits for a month, they will carry over to the next month. However, if you do not use any of your SNAP food stamps for a full year, DTA will assume you do not need SNAP food stamps and will cancel any benefits still in your account.

If you have any problem with your EBT card, you should call EBT Customer Service at 1-800-997-2555.
