Police were called and Meaders was charged with seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of public lewdness.

The charge of endangering the welfare of a child is bullshit and whoever levied it should be prosecuted with the same punishment as endangering the welfare of a child. It does not endanger a child to see some fat chick's muffin. It may not be a pleasant sight, but no harm is done.

Actually it's perfectly legal for women to go topless in New York. The law states, "Women may go topless in public, providing it is not being used as a business." The business part is to prevent topless bar or strip clubs.

I looked it up, it applies to all of New York State, as well. There was no crime committed here.

In any case, the state should not have the right to ban public nudity. No one has ever presented a legal justification for why the state should have the right to prohibit persons from showing specific patches of skin and not others. It makes no more sense than allowing the state to arrest people for showing eyebrows or ears.

Again, I don't want to see the vast majority of people naked, but what right do I or you have to prohibit them from being naked? And if we don't have the right to force our wills on others, then how can we give the state the right to force our wills on others? You can give to the state what you do not possess.
