... because 400,000 people stopped looking for work.

Will this help the "housing recovery"?

So this administration is Pro Family after all.

Nothing says family values like keeping a freezer full of Chicken fingers and a cupboard of Kraft Mac-n-Cheese for your twenty somethings holed up in the bedroom,(you were going to make a study out of), playing World of War Craft all day.

More potential renters for Roberto's fiefdom!!

Wow, your house must be nice..... everyone else puts the twenty somethings in the basement....

Lucky, they don’t need that much… allowance for beer and gas, plus internet connection in basement.

Will they be able to rent even in Roberto's desert empire? Last time I checked, Roberto isn't operating a charity.

Do you even have basements in Florida? I would think the high water tables there would be problematic if you do.

6   Tenpoundbass   2012 Sep 7, 6:06am

No basement.

But to be perfectly honest I don't have any twenty somethings either.
Just two daughters 16 and 17, personally I don't have a problem if they HAVE to stay with me until they are thirty or more. I think after a decade of so as an Adult living at home with Mom and Dad, is just what his country needs. To show just how this generation of 20 somethings know it alls don't know shit.
I bet on their 31st Birthday they give them selves a Republican voters registration card.

And don't forget the gators and boas. Lots of gators and boas.

Do they live in basements?

If they can find a big enough hole to get inside...probably. ;-)

We've got sinkholes.

I don't get this windfall for landlords. How will unemployed people pay for rent? Isn't unemployment benefits limited to $1,800 TOTAL a month? Even in Arizona that's gotta be a tight budget for an individual.

Cot the benefits to $900.00 per month and watch how quickly they find jobs.
I hear builders are having a hard time finding construction workers.

But the thing is, almost 100,000 MORE people are working today than a month ago. Not a great increase, but an increase none the less. we aren't really building any serious number of homes these days, so any improvement in the number of working people helps the rental market.

Dude! Entire nation created 96,000 new jobs last month. Phoenix must be in different country.
That is what teaches today in community college???

13   Goran_K   2012 Sep 7, 10:14am

Whoa, Arizona is capped at $950 a month unemployment benefits? That almost doesn't seem possible. Wouldn't you just qualify for food stamps and welfare by that point?

14   REpro   2012 Sep 7, 10:48am

robertoaribas says

Oh, so I should teach that an increase is a decrease? seriously, what part of what I said wasn't true? It isn't a great number, but it is certainly better than losing jobs...

So you are NOT referring to Phoenix only. OK I can buy it.
Nerveless, 150K is needed to keep-up with population grow. So, more actually means less in this case. Yes, teach Propaganda.

15   Goran_K   2012 Sep 7, 10:49am

Roberto, I think the basic fact you're missing is from the article he posted (and the one I posted):

The unemployment rate fell largely because 368,000 people stopped looking for work

So the 96,000 job gain is only a categorical gain due to the way they calculate unemployment.

In truth, the economy requires far more than 96,000 jobs a month to reduce unemployment (about 130k to 150k).

16   REpro   2012 Sep 7, 12:20pm

You’re licking surface, Roberto. Try to analyze this.

That or they move into a trailer park with the first loser they meet. Next thing you know there they are on trailer park girls gone wild, fundraising for the democrats.

But seriously capt'n, no disrespect, I'm sure you'll find a solution that is amicable for all.

Dire news for housing is LOSING 100,000+ jobs month after month.

So the U.S economy has to be hemorrhaging jobs every month (instead of slowly bleeding away) for it to have a negative effect on housing?

That's almost as ridiculous as someone who thinks riding his bike to work in 105 degree weather is a "great outdoor activity".

Another 400K quit looking and decided to get on the government tit. USA lets in a million legal immigrants each year plus all the illegal's so only 100K of mostly temporary/service industry jobs is absolutely horrible during a supposed recovery! More Americans will be doubling up on places and those million legal immigrants usually pack 25 people to a residence so they won't be depleting any housing stock. Not to mention just about all Boomers parents are moving into nursing homes putting more homes on the market and older boomers are starting to downsize and the continued building of new homes and multi unit housing can only point to lower prices all during this decade and beyond. Interest rates rising will be the ultimate death to the housing market. The Fed just raising the target rate from 0% to a half percent will cause complete panic. It's going to be a fun ride folks!
