Off the subject, Japan is worth visiting, but choose the months with nice weather.
8190   Patrick   2024 Apr 26, 8:56am

Yes, that!

Wife and I went to Japan in August. Don't do that.

o
Did the wife learn from the Japanese the proper way a woman is supposed to cater to the husband?
8192   Patrick   2024 Apr 26, 10:41am

Lol, no. But she is always respectful to me. And vice versa.

She must be right next to you when you wrote that. :-)

The dictionary is being reduced. I frequently run into words I know are spelled correctly, check them, and add them to the dictionary. I've considered getting an old style dictionary for Unix and just putting them all in. We have funny unabridged dictionaries today, and all variants of all spelling. I think there is an effort to reduce people's vocabulary.

I started noticing that right as Donald Trump entered the political arena around the end of 2015. I suspected that it's because the Google masters of the Universe, assumed that right wing people wouldn't be able to express themselves if they fucked with the spell check. All it did was just made us more careful in our writing.

Before then spell check used to provide several words, and often they would include a word more suited than the one I was using. It was convenient but had concerns that Google was taking over critical parts of our brain. So I welcomed the self sabotage of the Chromium spell check.

It was also how I noticed that EVERY browser is based on Chromium, or are at least in lockstep with it.
As Firefox, Opera and Brave also have the same crappy dictionary.
8207   Patrick   2024 Apr 28, 12:19pm

Yes, most browsers are based on Chromium at this point, including Brave. But I think Firefox is a completely separate codebase. At least it used to be.

He's probably messing with the woman that constantly abuses him. You are not likely looking at the reason she attacked the rooster, by rather why the rooster attacked her.

I think it's likely she is cruel to animals on a regular basis.

When I did dog rescue I noticed how animals are very rarely mean spirited or cruel. I cannot say the same with human beings most people are cruel in some way.

I had mean red rooster like that. He would always attack nprovoked. My young daughters could pick him up. He never menaced them.

Dude, animals don't just tend to randomly attack people and she beat that animal.over and over again

Saying what you said to me isn't constructive. That woman I am betting is sadistically cruel and you are seeing a fear and hate response from that rooster.

It's not funny.

True in general, but we had roosters, and they sure do randomly attack people. At least it looks random, ie unpredictable. I think it's because they sometimes feel they are defending their hens and territory.

We had to give away the roosters partly because of this behavior. One attacked someone who was visiting us, or rather attacked the purse she was holding. Not sure why.

Yes, that kind of thing seems typical of roosters.

One day I went in the back yard, and the yard was littered with County letter head appraisal sheets, of my property and the neighbors on my street. I envisioned that the appraiser was in my back yard, and saw Carl running at her at full gate leaping and pushing his spurs at her/him. So the appraiser must have tossed the papers and got the hell out of there. A week later our landlord told us, we had to get rid of the Rooster. She said she knows someone in Miami with a farm. She probably took it to a Rooster fighting ring, which I'm sure Carl rang supreme champ. Carl stood about 28 inches from feet to head. And had a wingspan like 3 feet, he was big freaking mean red rooster.
8223   Patrick   2024 Apr 30, 3:31pm

Yes, and if they have the spurs they can fuck you up. Some farmers clip off the spurs.

Nah. He's trying to dominate her. Chickens don't have very big brains.

We used to raise chickens and you could always tell the pecking order. The dominant rooster was immaculate, not a feather out of place. Number two had a couple loose feathers. On down the line until you get to the low bird who definitely had some bald spots. Roosters are mostly bluff. When I was a kid I had to clean out their pens. Always some rooster trying to attack me. A couple of punts across the coop and they give up.

Now Geese, which we also raised, are very territorial. They would attack my mother. I found the best defense against a goose attack, wings out head down neck extended, is to dribble their heads when they get close enough. We had some trouble with racoons. They got some chickens but never touched our geese.

I wouldn't eat a dog. I feel sorry for cows and pigs no matter how tasty they are, but I have no compunction against eating chickens.

That lady had a right to defend herself against that little bastard.

Pecking order. Stupid rooster perceived the purse as a threat,

Reptilian (birds are dinosaur descendants) brain tells the beast to escape from anything bigger that moves and try to eat anything that moves smaller than it.

I bet you're right.

We noticed that our chickens would attack a lower-status chicken that was literally higher, like on a higher branch. Maybe the purse looked like a rival rooster higher up. I think it was a red purse.
