It's not that sales are through-the-roof, but they certainly are very high compared with the number of properties for sale. The Supply/Demand balance is looking like 2005.

Yawn. There you go again.

The WELS Lutherans I know here are some of the most politically and social conservative people I know anywhere. We got invited to one of their weddings over in Sacramento and it was like a scene from of Deliverance. *I* felt like the liberal and among those people I probably was.

I believe it. I personally think the WELS and LCMS people are crazy. They both believe the earth is only 6-10 thousand years old and believe any less-than-literal interpretation of the early chapters of Genesis is an outright attack on Christianity. Unfortunately it looks like the more "liberal" ELCA is becoming just another subsidiary of the "Church of Oprah"

The more he goes off like that, the more he proves my point.

That's kind of what I was thinking, yes.

Why can't we just go back to the way it was before 2004 when there was genuine "tolerance" of homosexual behavior w/o the attempts to force others to accept it? There's a big difference between tolerating something and accepting/promoting it.

It goes back before that. I was part of one of those conservative student newspapers in the eighties and we published something (can't remember what, it's been too many years) that stirred up one of the local queer activists on campus. I heard later on from someone in the dorms that he had made physical threats against me but it was a conservative school (still is today, in some ways even more so) and I had friends in high places so he agreed to go back into his hole and I agreed to quit beating him whenever his head popped up which it no longer did. Last I heard, he's a social worker somewhere in the midwest.

I have to admit, they were some of THE nicest people I had ever met. The one guy was a languages grad student at Berkeley and I offered to take him for an airplane ride after I got my license, which isn't exactly cheap. He was a nice guy and I wanted to get to know him and his wife but no dice. I was a little too wild and crazy for them.

First: the subject of race never came up. At all. Zero, zilch, nada.

Second: I really don't detect an extreme fear of homosexual behavior in rootvg's comments, just disapproval of attempts to force its acceptance on the unwilling.

Third: why do you care what rootvg thinks? He/She is just a stranger on the internet. So am I. Live and let live.

Do you remember what I said about the lack of emotional stability, the lack of control and focus? Do you remember what I said about them going instantly divergent on all three axes the second they hear something that doesn't quite hit them right?

Right there it is...for the whole world to see. That's not normal. No one in my family does that. No one in my wife's family does that. No one I've ever flown with does that. No instructor or medical examiner I've ever known does that. The guy who tutored me for my written, has taught flying for fifty years and writes books for the flying community does not do that...

...but THEY DO. There's something wrong and they want US to accept their particular brand of pathological behavior as "normal" when it clearly isn't.

Are we really going to let them tell us that two and two are five?

Rootvg posts racist comments about Asians all the time. Are your eyes that closed?
And as for your other comments, you are joking, right? Homosexuality is a mental disorder etc.. etc.. His comments are blatantly homophobic.
And why exactly should it be live and let live with such comments. They deserve a response. A blunt response. They have no place here. If he wants to make them, then he should bugger off to a right-wing forum or some such where he's sure to find plenty of like-minded souls. This is a RE forum, not a place for him to air his bigoted views.

Most of rootvg's comments about Asians have been positive, have they not? Like saying Asian immigrants in the US place a very high value on education, for example.

As for the assertion that homosexual behavior is a disorder, the APA said the same thing until the whole "gay movement" began. I'm not a psychologist so I really can't say which view is "correct."

The psychologist will determine what's correct and what isn't on the basis of who's paying the bill and who is or isn't threatening to sue them out of existence. That's what the changes in DSM III were all about.

lol. Probably true.

Psychologist: "So how does that make you feel?"

Patient: "Are you talking about the bill or the condition I came to see you about?"

I say what I say about Asians because it's damn fucking difficult for the white kids to compete with them head on in a public school setting. One would think that will change as more of them arrive here and the ones who are already here assimilate into our population but right now, it's tough.

The jokes about wiener size and social awkwardness and pounding dents out of minivans have to be expected.

Lighten up, Francis.

No, most of his comments on Asians have been far from positive. Look back at the sum of his posts, not just the ones right here.

One of my best friends in college was Asian and said that it's only the smartest that get to come to the US to study...which is why it seems like "all Asians are good at math." He joked around saying he hated it when he would walk into a math class and everyone would look at him thinking, "aw crap, there goes the curve..."

Oh, I'm sure.

It's not so easy for them in Political Science, though. They tend to stick with Engineering or Math or Business. The quantitative analysis courses for the average business major are for most of them a joke. I'll bet a lot of them simply test out of it.

Nobody is so obsessed with the behaviour of others unless that have it themselves. He's just a very sick individual and God help him before he really goes out and turns these projections into action. Patrick allows this crap for a reason and it speaks volumes about him as well. I've lurked around for a while now it's appalling at what a trailer park Patrick has allowed it to become. I want no part of this as a participant or observer and I don't know why any intelligent individual who is truly interested in real estate would want to be any part of this either. Let this guy hate himself and stop taking that hatred from him and he will eventually turn that hate back on himself where it originates. Do you really want your world polluted with this creep's negativity and mental problems? Not me so I'm out of here for good. Patrick, when you get some class I might return but not a minute before. Yeah, there's this really convenient feature called "ignore." Unless one thinks that they are going to "reform" him, they should just use that feature. The guy is a pretty good troll...as he openly states, he has been trolling "progressives" for a long time, and seems to know how to get under their skin. Whining about the whiners. LMAO!

When I go to a party and the host has invited some drunk asshole that insults everyone and does nothing, I don't ignore them. I leave the party and tell the host thank you for subjecting your guests to your low rent friend and I never return. I'm deleting my account for the same reason I don't hang out in bad neighbourhoods because I prefer to go to good ones where I don't have to subject myself to the crap. There is nothing in this neighbourhood that is appealing enough for me to ignore or stay here. Not even the amusement of actually coming into contact and observing a class of person(s) that I have little to no experience coming into actual contact with. What is that prayer says "accept the things you cannot change and change the things you can", well I've had the privilege of never really have to encounter this kind of trash in my life and I still have the power to continue on that way. Why? If he's deliberately trolling this site with racist and homophobic posts, then he should be banned. Personally, I don't particularly see it as trolling - they are simply his abhorrent opinions. Either way, it shouldn't be an issue of others having to press the ignore button, it should be a matter of Patrick warning or banning him.

I am not sure if trolling is against patnet rules...if so, then it may well be a ban-worthy offense. I'd just expend the 15 Joules of energy & 3 seconds to put him on the ignore list if I were you. Anyway, I have been looking at stuff up in the Fremont & Hayward hills. It would be great to have easy access to the trails, and maybe some additional peace & quiet. For those that live up there, how's the commute to the SV? I dread going near 880, but some have said that traffic has improved or something. 237 looks nasty! Shit, it seems like I should just stash a power boat somewhere down there & shoot over to Stevens Creek. Hell, I could ride up that, stash it and walk 100ft to my office!

Prices up in the hills are a little high for my liking. Maybe sometime next year they will have fallen a little more, assuming inventories recover.

That's a bad argument, regardless of one's stance on the whole "gay" issue. A lot of people think that certain behaviors are bad w/o actually indulging in it themselves.

For example, I think that loan-sharking is bad behavior. And I rail against it constantly. But believe it or not, I don't have some deeply-repressed desire to do loan-sharking myself. And I don't hate myself. Really.

Mind, using an inappropriate analogy hardly represents a good argument...

142   freak80   2012 May 7, 1:03am

Your argument was that anyone who disapproves of homosexual behavior has a deeply-repressed desire for homosexual beharvior. Is that correct? Is that your assertion?

I gave a counter-example of a situation where someone could disapprove of a behavior and yet NOT have a deeply-repressed desire for said behavior.

If you're going to make an assertion, the "burden of proof" is on you to prove the assertion. The assertion that all (or most) people who disapprove of homosexual behavior are themselves gay is quite a claim. You should probably back it up.
