Insider trading legal for politicians. Why? Because "Some animals are more equal than others".
If that's the most disgusting and despicable thing you've ever seen, you haven't been paying attention. There's fucking genocide going on in the world.

Yeah there is, and a good part of it is being caused by the American military, as directed by people who have direct investments in companies that benefit from military expenditures and efforts.
I must be missing something.
Those in Congress found active in insider trading will NOT be asked to return any stolen property AAAAAND they will continue influencing America's laws.
Do the AMERICAN PEOPLE see gubmint as some intimidating spiritual ruling priest ?

Fair point. I meant the most disgusting and despicable thing I've seen in American politics.
Kevin says
There's fucking genocide going on in the world.
Yeah but we're not Mogadishu, YET.
I think he meant Syria. And yes, that's way more despicable.

Eh, even then. I can think of plenty of things worse than insider trading going on.
Everyone knows that the pope is darth sidius, not darth vader.
I would vote for Pope Vader.
I might also listen to the robots policies IF, The crack (cash) addict was not robbing his Grand Mother (citizens) at Gunpoint.
We need to STOP enabling them.
I too wish Congress worked for men of stature and merit for free, but alas, those craven bastards need to get paid. It gives them the illusion that they are not actually part of the filthy underclass.
Eh, even then. I can think of plenty of things worse than insider trading going on.
This is far worse than simply insider trading. It's making it legal for Senators to inside trade. In effect, the Senators are writing laws that make them a special class of citizens that can commit crimes and not be prosecuted. This is such outright corruption that it is absurd that Americans tolerate it.
It's so blatant, so openly disrespectful to the very idea of lawfulness and equality under law, that it boggles the mind. It's like if the Senators passed a law bringing back prima nocta.
Dan,
Why so judgemental? Would we all be better off if you were supreme leader?
Dan,
Why so judgemental? Would we all be better off if you were supreme leader?
Yes, I would be a benevolent dictator who would put the society's interests before my own. Not that I have any ambitions of being a world leader. I would hate the job. Ironically, the complete non-desire of power is what it takes to wield power responsibly and ethically.
Even better, I would write software that would put society's needs before any individual while protecting the rights and liberty of the individual and allowing for people to vote on judgement calls. Such an expert system would be far superior to any human leader. Kind of what Helios was in Deus Ex.
Yes, I would be a benevolent dictator who would put the society's interests before my own.
Incredible.
Every tyrant thinks they are ruling for the good of the society they control.
I rest my case!
Every tyrant thinks they are ruling for the good of the society they control.
1. Dictator and tyrant are not synonymous.
2. I am not either.
3. If I were a dictator, I'd limit by edicts to shaping the way government works rather than forcing specific political positions on people.
4. I would work to make myself and all human rulers obsolete by automating government and dispersing power.
5. The end result of my work would be an automated, decentralized Libacracy (my term), something this world has never seen before.
So, yeah, I'm just like rulers throughout history. Just not human history.
1. Dictator and tyrant are not synonymous.
2. I am not either.
lol---I think that was the point. If you asked Stalin or Hitler, they would answer the same as you...
lol---I think that was the point. If you asked Stalin or Hitler, they would answer the same as you...
tatup70 and wthrfrk80, you're argument is an instance of a specific class of fallacy called Poisoning the Well which has the form:
1. Unfavorable information (be it true or false) about person A is presented.
2. Therefore any claims person A makes will be false.
For example,
1. Tatup70 and wthrfrk80 imply that Dan is just like Stalin or Hitler (an obviously false claim).
2. Therefore, anything Dan says is invalid.
Even if I were like Stalin or Hitler, my arguments, be they right or wrong, would still stand or fall on their own merits.
However, your assertion that I am like Stalin or Hitler is retarded. Both Stalin and Hitler committed genocide. I posted a message on a forum. Both Stalin and Hitler commanded armies. I discuss real estate and politics on a forum. Both Stalin and Hitler assassinated their political rivals. You are still alive. Stalin and Hitler loved power. I've gone on the record that "I would hate the job" of being a world leader. Stalin and Hitler did everything they could to centralize power. Everything I've proposed is to decentralize power and spread it so thin that no one has control over another human being.
I could go on and on, but I think I've made my point. You have utterly destroyed all your credibility by comparing me to Hitler and Stalin. Only fools compare others on the Internet with the greatest mass murderers of history.
Every tyrant thinks they are ruling for the good of the society they control.
I rest my case!
Premise: If X is a tyrant, X thinks that he is ruling for the good of society.
Conclusion: If a person thinks he is ruling for the good of society, he is a tyrant.
This is obviously wrong. Even if a premise is true, it's converse is not necessarily.
Furthermore, this premise is incorrect. Nero most certainly did not think he was ruling for the good of society. There are plenty of tyrants throughout history that knew they were putting their own self-interest above others. That's two mistakes by you in a mere 16 words.
Dan--
Your logic skills are waning. I did not say you were the same as Hitler or Stalin. I said that if you asked them if they were tyrants, they would probably say no. Tyrants often think they are doing what is necessary for the common good.
You are completely missing wth's point.
Tyrants often think they are doing what is necessary for the common good.
So do doctors, fire fighters, police, soldiers, priests, nuns, and volunteers at homeless shelters.
Your intent was to convince people that I am a psychopathic murderer like Hitler and Stalin were, and therefore no one should listen to any of my arguments. That intent is bad and deliberately misleading.
Furthermore, it shows that you have no real counter-arguments to make. Resorting to Hitler comparisons for anything other than actual genocide or proposed genocide, isn't a strong argument. Unfortunately, it is all too common on Internet forums.
In response of your demonstration of Godwin's Law, I am hereby invoking the Nazi Rule.
The nazi rule is simple. In any debate, argument, or other two or more sided discussion, the party(and all others with an associated opinion) that first brings of Nazis is instantly the loser of said discussion, argument, whatever. This is a simple principle that applies to all people in all places.
Your intent was to convince people that I am a psychopathic murderer like Hitler and Stalin were, and therefore no one should listen to any of my arguments. That intent is bad and deliberately misleading.
No it really wasn't.
Furthermore, it shows that you have no real counter-arguments to make. Resorting to Hitler comparisons for anything other than actual genocide or proposed genocide, isn't a strong argument. Unfortunately, it is all too common on Internet forums.
I think the point was made, but you are correct. I have no counter points to make. I was merely commenting on your reply to another poster--it struck me as amusing that you so completely missed his point.
Basically, Congress commits massive insider trading and makes it legal for them to do it. This should be as offensive as if Congress made rape and murder legal for themselves. And guess what, the Republicans are more dirty than the Democrats on this. Meanwhile, the rest of us honest investors get screwed as Congress passes legislation to make their own portfolios go up.

Hang them all and let their fictitious god sort them out. Retroactively make this illegal and prosecute them all. If there was ever a case for a retroactive law it's to punish corrupt law makers who undermined our legislative and legal system.
