100s of Jobs purged in past few weeks, 3000 for the year. The Media Orgs dribble them out because of 'negative coverage' by other useless "Journalists"
Last January, Vox officially moved to unionize with the Writers Guild of America, East. On Thursday, WGA East released a statement in support of the union.
“Although our negotiators and the Vox Media bargaining committee have been working overtime for a long time, and have made many important gains at the table, the company has to do more to address concerns about pay fairness and transparency. These issues are essential to the people we represent at Vox Media,” Lowell Peterson, executive director of the Writers Guild of America, East, said. “The WGAE is proud to be their collective bargaining representative.”
Vox CEO Jim Bankoff did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap, but on Thursday, he addressed employees in the newsroom, saying that he was upset with the walkout.
“While paying people a lot more than market wages sounds great on the surface, it’s not realistic or smart,” Bankoff said shortly before the walkout, according to Bloomberg.
Though company employees celebrated unionization at the time, there have also been consequences to it. Just a month after employees signed up with WGA East, Vox dropped 50 people or roughly 5% of its workforce.
Isn't it beautiful that the Media is finally getting a taste of layoffs? They can all learn to code.
Or learn to do balanced reporting. Funny how not one investigative reported made a name for him or her self by exposing or at least questioning the phony Dossier and related timing, Democrat funding, and illegal spying involved. How about questioning what the Mueller report ignored and why Mueller hired 13 proven pro-Hillary investigators, including lawyers disciplined by judges for misconduct in the Ted Stevens and Enron cases. The media propagandists that have been banging that "Russian Collusion" drum are now shedding staff because even Trump haters are tuning out from what they now see as propaganda that strung them along with false hopes.
"...layoff announcements at BuzzFeed, Verizon, Vice Media, McClatchy, Machinima, and Gannett — the largest newspaper publisher in the US."
FUNNY, one name you don't see on that list? Breitbart.
Maybe because Breitbart isn't spreading fake news and flushing their readers down the toilet. Not that Breitbart isn't biased, but at least it didn't spend the last 2 years pushing the false narrative, Trump was in Putin's pocket.
It's also that there is a glut of Progressive Activist media, whose core users are Progressive Activists.
From Vox to Vice to Buzzfeed to TYT to Slate to Salon, there are just too many of them sharing too small an audience. And most try to work as traditional news orgs with an expensive downtown office and well paid executives.
