Who decides who qualifies as white?
Does half work? Three quarters? Only if they look a certain way?
Racism in all forms is bad, even when it's done as a sort of jest.

Or as affirmative action.
We can all agree that racism is bad.
Cool - I look forward to scathing take-downs of racial criminal profiling from the right wingers here.
Who decides who qualifies as white?
The US government, the biggest proponent of racism in the country.
Yes, Blurtman, Affirmative Action is racism institutionalized, and is bad. I said in ALL forms, and that's one of the more obvious forms even a child can see.
Don't ruin this for me DAN!
It's up to the government, not me, about whether or not discounts can be given to individual races. It doesn't sound like it would be legal, but "women drink free" nights at bars were deemed legal when challenged, rightfully so, as discrimination against the protected status of gender.
Of course, in this day and age, how to you verify someone's gender or race 100% of the time? Does a transgender get to drink free? How white do you have to be to qualify for this discount? Can a brother claim to be white and offer proof by dancing badly?
If you are economically disadvantaged, but not a member of the club, too bad.
"Some minority groups are presumed to be socially and economically disadvantaged and can qualify for the 8(a) program. These groups include: African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Asian Pacific Americans and Subcontinent Asian Americans. Individuals who are not members of one or more of these groups can be considered for the 8(a) program, but they must provide substantial evidence and documentation that demonstrates that they have been subjected to bias or discrimination and are economically disadvantaged. Firms owned by Alaska Native Corporations, Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian Organizations and Community Development Corporations can also apply to the program."
Yes, you can be an Italian from Argentina are you are in. Latino is neither a racial or ethnic group, BTW.
"What groups does NIH consider to be in need of a special recruitment and retention plan in order to diversify the biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences workforce?
A. Individuals from racial and ethnic groups that have been shown by the National Science Foundation to be underrepresented in health-related sciences on a national basis (see data at http://www.nsf.gov/statistics/showpub.cfm?TopID=2&SubID=27 and the report Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities in Science and Engineering, 2007, p. 262). The following racial and ethnic groups have been shown to be underrepresented in biomedical research: American Indians or Alaska Natives, Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, Native Hawaiians or Other Pacific Islanders. In addition, it is recognized that under-representation can vary from setting to setting and individuals from racial or ethnic groups that can be convincingly demonstrated to be underrepresented by the grantee institution should be included in the recruitment and retention plan."
Can I borrow that crystal ball of yours partner.
It's not a crystal ball. It's called looking at history to assess the probability of future events. If 99% of the judges uphold automobile searches at the discretion of cops, then you can be fairly certain that the judge will uphold the search of your car should you challenge it in court. Lawyers do this kind of advanced analysis all the time. They call it "paying attention".
Maybe they should call it "Retarded, Incestuous HillBillies Day", then the Clintons would attend.
To be fair, they should extend that discount to any black person that can do a decent imitation of a white dude.
Now he's getting hate mail.
You remember those White guys in the 50's with the buzz cuts, and the Dad glasses who told every store owner who they could serve and not serve?
They are still around.

If you can't tell a difference between a racism and a joke, I can't help you.

No No now hold on, that's a fair question.
I think the mandatory standard cracker test applies here. Before the cashier rings up your order, he/she taps "Shave and a haircut" and pauses for three seconds.
If the customer doesn't tap "Two Bits" on the counter then they don't get the discount. That way Bobby Jindal can qualify for the discount.
Good publicity stunt to get a new restaurant's name out in a community that is largely white. I am sure they wouldn't have gotten any publicity if they had said that they will give everyone a 10% discount on "white appreciation day". Nice marketing, as long as no one ends up suing them :-) ; otherwise, the restaurant may just have to shut down before it even starts, LOL.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milliken,_Colorado:

There were 903 housing units at an average density of 158.0 per square mile (61.1/km²). MILLIKEN, Colo. — The Hispanic owners of a barbecue restaurant in Milliken say they plan to host a "White Appreciation Day" next month.
What started as a joke is now on the calendar. Edgar Antillon and Miguel Jimenez recently purchased Rubbin Buttz BBQ on Broad Street. On June 11, they plan to offer a 10% discount to all white customers and no one else.
"We have a whole month for black history month," Antillon said. "We have a whole month for Hispanic heritage month, so we thought the least we could do was offer one day to appreciate white Americans."
