I started reading the article above, and it sounded pretty convincing until...

" In 1973, a global oil crisis hit the world. This was the result of the Yom Kippur War, which took place in the Middle East in 1973. However, much more covertly, it was an American strategem. Right when the US dropped the dollar’s peg to gold, the State Department had quietly begun pressuring Saudi Arabia and other OPEC nations to increase the price of oil. At the 1973 Bilderberg meeting, held six months before the oil price rises, a 400% increase in the price of oil was discussed. The discussion was over what to do with the large influx of what would come to be called “petrodollars,” the oil revenues of the OPEC nations.

Henry Kissinger worked behind the scenes in 1973 to ensure a war would take place in the Middle East, which happened in October. Then, the OPEC nations drastically increased the price of oil.... "

Say what? This starts to sound like a conspiracy theory to me. I looked up Henry Kissinger and the middle east and the only references I can find to him and the war, all link back this article. If this had any truth to it, you would think that others would have followed this up. I guess not every one of Patrick's link are of value, cause I say guy in this article above is a complete crackpot!

You should check out The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein. Idk about the Yom Kippur War and oil but Kissinger, Friedman, et al had their hands in the cookie jar of many countries (Argentina, Chile, Russia, Poland, Bolivia, etc) with the goal of bringing pure capitalism to the masses with disastrous results.
