...why are there so many bad areas?   Oakland.  East San Jose.  Richmond. San Leandro.  East Palo Alto.  Pockets of San Francisco.  The list is numerous.

Why do vagabonds and scum get to live here for almost nothing, while hardworking people are faced with million dollar mortgages for homes that would be fixxer-uppers almost anywhere else?

If this is such a desirable area to live, wouldn't you think that ALL areas would at least be somewhat decent?
