When I try to post on 'Property Gossip' it says it needs an address.  Where is the address field? how do I enter the address?

Thanks so much

Wow, thanks for telling it's not obvious. There are two ways. You can write a normal post, but give it a valid street address as the title (you can leave off zip, it will figure it out) and check the "Property Gossip" checkbox.

The easier way is to use this form:

http://patrick.net/?p=217

Just enter an address and a comment. Please let me know what would make it clearer. I'm too close to it to see it as regular users would.

I changed the "Title" field in http://patrick.net/wp-admin/post-new.php to be labelled like this:

Title (use a street address for "Property Gossip" forum)

Think that helps? Maybe there's some better wording.

Wow, that address doesn't show up in Google maps (I use Google maps to validate addresses).

But it does show up in Movoto:

Either Google maps just doesn't know that address, or legally it's something different.

Yahoo maps doesn't have it either. Really weird.

I am trying to post this new development : http://www.visitwildorchid.com/
Most of the new addresses don't resolve on Google/Yahoo maps. Mapping products lag a few months.

So only allowing addresses on Google/Yahoo maps, will not allow posting new-new developments.

How about allowing something that looks like an address?
Regex for address : http://regexlib.com/DisplayPatterns.aspx?cattabindex=6&categoryId=7

thanks

Most people don't know the zip code of any given address, and I was planning to use the zip codes for alerts and grouping features I plan to add later. Google maps gives the zip codes so users don't need to.

The regular expression thing would work, and I could fill in the zip code from Google maps at least for the cases where it's there. OK, that's on my list of things to do.

But here's a workaround for now: just create your post in a different forum, like Miscellaneous, then edit it and change the category to Property Gossip.
