Also, Fairfax County can pull the same stunt they did in the Governors election where they had 30,000 unsigned mail in votes just waiting. They did not bother throwing in those 30,000 votes because Younkin was ahead by 80,000 votes.

Mainstream media may still revive Platner just like they will for the Democrat candidate for Virginia's attorney general.
Plus there are enough independent (claiming Trump fatigue) voters as well as left of center and left wing voters in Maine (just like in Virginia) to elect Platner, albeit by less of a margin of victory if there was not as much controversy about him.

What really helped is that unlike the 2020 election, Virginia Republicans had manned all the western county precincts.

But yet, that should make the Dems happy. Problem is, along with his "Anti-Oligarchy" he has plenty of choice opinions that aren't going to appeal to elderly hippies and pink haired pincushion faces about women shouldn't get shitfaced, negro tipping habits, etc.
And of course, he's the DSA rich kid stereotype: His grandfather was an architect who designed the Ford Foundation HQ, father was a Corpo Lawyer, and despite his veteran status, he no doubt has a very substantial inheritance coming to him.
Turns out his oyster farming is on family land and bankrolled; he protested Bush in the early 2000s, and was in and out of the military, angry he never got promoted, and worked for BLACKWATER as a contractor.
