1996 It’s time for members of Congress to stop bashing China and to recognize that the best way to promote human rights in China is to promote free trade. Secretary of State Warren Christopher’s visit to Beijing next week should be used to offer China a positive program for human rights–one that treats free trade as an important human right; grants China permanent most-favored-nation trading status; repeals Jackson-Vanik, while maintaining a humane refugee and asylum policy; and continues to open markets.
Chinese government has a different mindset than that of typical westerners in the modern era. If Warren Christopher gives more concessions and time next week, the Chinese will graciously accept and agree to their side of the bargain. 5 years later it will be obvious that China took all the perks and made not the slightest effort to hold up their end of the bargain.
I remember years ago reading some paranoia that making China the world's manufacturer would simply lead to China using its wealth to attack by subterfuge its so called patrons and allies.
Since they are heavily implicated in our election fraud and election frauds in many other countries, I guess that paranoid needs to be promoted to prophet.
I think China has a head of steam on ancient revenges over the incursions of the West on them in the past with little things like the Opium Wars, which seems reflected in their scourging us with the 'fentanyl wars' through the cartel labs and the southern border.
The heads that nod politely in agreement plot the poisoned curvy dagger in the back.
China and Byzantium come across the same strategy to deal with the Steppe Highway nomads, bribe and infiltrate them, since there's always another group down the pike 3 gens later.
