I am not a licensed engineer (licensed California Contractor for Class A Engineering) - but I have been managing Mechanical and Civil Engineers for years in a Sales capacity for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

My undergrad is in Environmental Science and Management. Got an MBA along the way.

Currently I manage a West Region sales team including 6 major distributors for a large water technology company.

Not water, but your line of work is similar to my wife's work it sounds like. Does everyone think you're an engineer? Wife is smart, but everyone thinks she's an engineer. It's funny to me. Not in a bad way.

The smartest people in the room on paper doesn't necessarily mean they are the smartest. I've found engineers to have zero street smarts. My FIL was a dip shit, but good guy, high school grad. If you lived in Chicagoland he did your dialysis systems if you were that way at most facilities. He did good work, but if you met him, you wouldn't want him in charge of the water. Did good though. No issues over 30 years with no education except on the job.

I respect engineers, but it's very much like the people that get Ph.D's. So you went to school a lot? Good for you. Then you want me to call you doctor? The egos in some professions is hilarious. As an RE broker I met them all. Thousands. There are some dumb smart people out there.
