This wasn’t just in US, entire Europe did it.
Not exactly a Hobson's choice:
Trump did not force the vaxx.
Trump lowered taxes, like no tax on SS and tips.
Trump also got rid of the USAID grift.

Yes, I think one primary goal was to get everyone to submit to digital surveillance. The tactic was to manipulate public opinion to get those who resisted digital surveillance to be classified as "dangerous" to the health of others.
It turned out that more than half of the human population is unable to detect an obvious scam even after it stuck them with a needle and made them sick.
