Here is how the figures break down as follows:
Russian military deaths: 120,000
Russian military wounded: 170,000 to 180,000

Ukraine military deaths: 70,000
Ukraine military wounded: 100,000 to 120,000
There is an established statistical formula that looks at the number of military personnel killed and predicts the number of casualties in a war zone; 3 soldiers are wounded for each soldier killed. If we accept the death tolls published in the article we come up with wounded figures as follows:
Russia: 360,000
Ukraine: 210,000
Let us see how these new numbers affect the figures generated by the New York Times as follows:
Russian military deaths: 120,000
Russian military wounded: 360,000

Ukraine military deaths: 70,000

Ukraine military dead: 70,000
Ukraine military wounded: 210,000
Total Military Personnel killed and wounded: 1,280,000.
The US fought in Vietnam for 13 years from 1962 to 1975. 58,220 US military personnel were killed. 150,000 were wounded. The war between Iraq and Iran started on September 22, 1980, and ended on August 20, 1988 (Almost 8 years). Roughly one million military personnel died during this 8-year war.
The Ukraine war is going to be an awful blood bath as no end is in sight.
