This whole issue is bullshit.
To fly to Taiwan, you need to get a visa from China, not Taiwan, China.
Two systems, one country. The reunification party is ALMOST in power, and they are gaining ground every year. China doesn't have to go to war for Taiwan to come full under the umbrella of China again, China just needs to wait.
HOWEVER, to prevent this, the US has to go to war, and if the US is stupid enough to do this, the US will get their asses kicked.
Leave them alone, let them work it out.
There's the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which (claims to) want independence, and the Chinese National Party (Kuomintang) which wants reunification.

Kuomintang is gaining ground and they gained CONSIDERABLE ground in their last election, because the DPP is as corrupt as our DNC.
The US would have to actually attack China to start a war, and China I don't think will bite. I actually expect Japan and South Korea to make alliances with China if that happens, and North Korea to... be more open - to relax a bit. There's a lot of conflict between the "races" there, but the US is making a common enemy of the world. Our foreign policy is either run by traitors of the stupidest fucking assholes ever.
