So far so good, you get the Debian experience and it can run almost anything. Pretty resourceful/fast as well, esp. with XFCE.

Installation via flashing image onto micro sd card, then booting from micro sd card, then apt update and upt upgrade, lastly installing the system onto emmc by changing the boot loader from booting from sd to booting from emmc via armbian-config tool. Done.

Seems like there's a Debian flavor for everything. I guess you could have also gone the Raspbian route, as all Pi's use ARM.
