lol they are mostly white leftoids, literally sit in every bank, insurance, hoa, and hog all kinds of other shit services people cannot escape these days and fuck shit up - they don't know how to use modern computer systems, they regularly lose emails or never read them since they never check they misconfigured spam folders, they misread messages in their electronic systems with their fucking -8 horn-rimmed glasses and are just fucking slow and incompetent as fuck. No matter how much disdain one may have for the poor work ethic of millenials, the boomers who raised them are no better. Please retire early on xiden stimmy checks and let younger, computer-literate folks take over. And stop communicating the same requests via paper mail 5000 FUCKING TIMES when you have gotten the answer already 4999 times!!! you know !climate change! manbearpig and stuff!! Signed - Gen X

I didn't work with him, but a colleague did - he worked from home, and on his computer at home he had his webcam on, and at work at his desk, was a tablet this showed his face. If you wanted to talk to him, you'd walk over to his cubicle, and have a chat. He was always online while at work and he was always present at work.

I had that exact idea. Some years back I wanted to work from home but management didn't want to let any new employees have the privilege - only employees who were hired on as remote from years prior when remote was widely acceptable were allowed to do it. I was going to pitch that to my manager - I'll setup an always on video chat in my office so people can just walk in and talk to me without needing to do any junk like send an IM to ask if I can join a video chat or phone call etc...

I never did it though, and covid has allowed me to be remote for years now, although that will likely end soon.

You can suggest it now.

If your job is sitting at your desk and typing on a keyboard, like my job is, why not? Perhaps you need to share your screen as well. It gives you a connection to work, and if you need to be in, go in.

BUT - I hate working from home. When I do this, it's not that I work from home, it's that I sleep and live at work. I hate "working from home".
