There will be a vote to impeach but a lot of Democrats will be voting “present” and the vote will fail. This absolves leftist Democrats who can say “we did our duty but these blue dog Democrats wouldn’t get on board!” And the Democrats with competitive districts can say “we voted based on the evidence not partisan concerns,” and everyone’s political positions are preserved.

Trump still gets to crow though

More cracks in the Dem dam. How many Dems won’t vote to impeach? I will be surprised if it’s any less than 30.

So it seems there is no bi-partisan vote for impeachment, but there is now bi-partisan support against impeachment?

30 might be a bit high, but I also wouldn't be shocked if it got that high. I've said as much that I don't think the House will successfully vote on articles to impeach already.

But the problem is that the House was totally one sided in the public hearings. So the left/dem base thinks there's something there when there isn't if they had just watched say 6 hours of all these hearings unfiltered. So they'll pressure their reps, even in the purple/red areas because they're soooo pissed and having a 3 year temper tantrum. The right is just like whatever, so all these reps are just hearing a vocal minority.

Also, the behind closed door stuff, according to House members involved (and the only place to get this is MSM) is there is "damning" evidence against the POTUS and it's all spun up to be a "crime crime" bs. (edit: "high crime" but I kind of like crime crime lol) But people are too blind to question why this "damning" evidence WON'T be presented to the public. The dems are feeding their own party constituents poison and seemingly have no idea.

I finally watched (mostly) that Biden video at the swimming pool. His campaign for the Democratic nomination is over. If he somehow wins the nomination, 2020 is already in the bag for Trump. And this had nothing to do with Ukraine, Hunter, Burisma, etc. The guy is a certifiable creep. Anyone that thinks his speech/talk at that pool was normal shouldn't be allowed to vote. Period.

lol this is truly a terrible video. I doubt though that he gets anything sexual out of it - he is just a socially very awkward guy but ironically in a way that makes him come on (too) strong which women generally love, and esp. older long-post-wall womyn don't mind that he's old and creepy, they get some self worth out of it and the long lost feeling of attractiveness, so he has been - despite his creepyness - traditionally pretty well liked and thus - as crazy as it sounds - is probably the most likable candidate among the Dems. Which says a lot about the quality of their candidates and should ensure four more years of Trump.

As Democrat leadership barrels forward on impeachment, moderate Democrats are reportedly feeling anxious and frustrated over its political consequences.

“The fact of the matter is this does have political consequences and the people who will suffer significant political consequences are our moderate members,” a moderate Democrat told CNN on Friday.

Nancy and Schifty releases their two articles of impeachment today. Abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
Both are total bullshit and they didn’t even stick around to defend them. They know this is just a show for the rubes and the vote will fail.
53   Shaman   2019 Dec 11, 11:03am

It’s more of an analysis than breaking news, but this is a fairly comprehensive analysis of the Democrats who are likely to vote against impeachment.

Perhaps Nancy wants them to do the above.

I dunno, they came down on Rep. Brenda Lawrence, D-Mich, when she questioned the wisdom of impeachment. Made Lawrence come back into the impeachment fold right away.

So now she’s signaling that there will be no negative political outcomes for voting no on impeachment for Democrats in swing states.
Could it be any more clear that the vote is expected to fail next week?

Fair point!
But are these Democrat mobsters serious? After all, their only hopes of winning in 2020 in these purplish districts is to have a moderate incumbent.
If they replace the moderate with a radical Leftist, they won’t have a prayer of winning. The only examples where that strategy works is in deep blue districts like the one AOC stole.

The moderates are really fucked. If they refuse, the Dems can threaten the big funding they'll need to retain their seats given Trump's popularity in their districts.

But if they go ahead, they could easily lose in their districts that Trump one, in several very handily.

Complicating the matter is that the Dems are cash poor.

There is, however, one more choice they might avail themselves of...

Flip Mode.

New Jersey Democratic Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who has strongly opposed the Democrats’ impeachment efforts, is leaving the Democratic Party and becoming a member of the Republican Party after meeting with President Donald Trump.

“Van Drew’s congressional and campaign staff were informed he was planning to switch parties on Saturday, according to Democratic sources,” Politico reported. “The question was now when, not if, Van Drew was joining the Republican Party, according to several Democrats with knowledge of the ongoing conversations.”

That’s why I insist on telling people to watch it (at least as much as you can) without viewing the sound bite clips from ANY media.

Dems look like a deer about to be smashed by a semi if you watch it. A few have a little passion, but most are just going through the motions it seems. He’s been put up to it, but all Nadler does is keep repeating the same line he’s been fed. You can tell he doesn’t believe it. And yes, republicans are doing the same thing, they just show more conviction and belief in what they’re saying. And that’s why support for impeachment keeps dropping.
65   Shaman   2019 Dec 15, 6:20pm

More supporting evidence. Now a group of five Democrats are putting their front man forward to declare they don’t support impeachment. Others are waffling. Pelosi is trying to bribe them with PAC money and legislation money for their districts. But the New Democrats in Trump supporting districts HAVE to know that voters will never forgive them for trying to oust their choice for President over nothing at all.

Just fucking vote on it already. To the average American that doesn't know the process, this makes the Democrats look foolish. Like they're delaying. I personally think they are. Behind closed doors I'd guess there are more on the fence than is publicly known. They may not have the votes. Work on a weekend. Do whatever to get it done if you actually believe in it. Not seeing that.

I'm in a purple district in the IL suburbs of Chicago. I can tell you that impeachment is not popular here. Not even from the biggest Trump haters (my two liberal arts college professor neighbors). The is the closest information I'll give here about where I live, but my house rep. Lauren Underwood will not get reelected if she votes for impeachment. I'd bet money on it.

Trump is definitely not going to be impeached. I hope they drag out the impeachment trial and call every witness possible on the Bidens and anything that remotely strikes their fancy using their Senate Impeachment quasitrial powers.

@WookieMan which suburb? I'm from Chicago Ridge (southwest) then later lived in Park Ridge (northwest).

Lol. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/12/impeachment-warranted-also-bad-idea/603616/

Even the Atlantic is hinting impeachment might not be a good idea. Giving a back door excuse that "maybe impeachment isn't good for the country." No shit. The articles and stories are shifting if you're paying attention. I think they're trying to figure out who the scapegoat is going to be for not impeaching. Given her age, I think they are going to bus toss Pelosi. Just a guess.

I'll keep it to Lauren Underwood's district and that I'm west of Chicago (not northwest or southwest of Chicago). My town is too small and someone savvy enough could probably dox me here if they were inclined to based on my previous comments. Since it's a big enough city, all I'll say is I was born in Aurora, IL (Party on!)

I know where both "Ridges" are, lol, funny you lived in two towns with that in it. Haven't spend much time in either though. 1/3 of my life has been in Chicago itself (Pilsen and Taylor St area) and the other 2/3 far West suburban living. 1/2 my adult life though has been split between the two.

Let's see the vote. My house rep will not get reelected if she votes yes to impeachment. This isn't as cut and dry as you'd like to think. They know they're not going to remove Trump from office. There are more on the fence then you think or is being broadcasted.
74   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 Dec 17, 8:53am

He's going to testify under oath. It's going to be magic.

After his testimony scorches the Democrats, empowered to reveal all kinds of shit, they'll do the usual Left switcheroo and say "How DARE he testify under oath! This is bad for national security" - a complete 180 from their current stance that he is hiding malfeasance and truth must be brought to light. Remember that an Oikophobes purpose is to destroy the native and familiar, not to push any alleged high principles, but to get revenge for being frumpy and high school teasing.

Trump wants the impeachment trial. I think he wants to testify publicly under oath. It'll be fun.

I doubt that Trump will ever testify. He is unable to speak truth ( but may qualify every sentence with I do not remember but .. )

I think he would ignore questions and ramble on about whatever pops into his head.
76   Shaman   2019 Dec 17, 9:49am

Tomorrow we will see! I kind of hope that I’m wrong and the vote passes to impeach him. It will make for high fucking drama and a national SPOTLIGHT on this whole corrupt process. People who have been steadfastly ignoring this bullshit will have to take notice and that will give the Republicans their greatest chance in a generation to show the Democrats up for the lying scumbags that they truly are.

Just like it all fell apart last 2 times. But do not worry, they will come up with something else. Perhaps Mongolian Collusion, Babylonian Corruption Ring, or Olmec Bribe Scandal. All while anything real will not be looked at.
