ummmm....because the sale of illegal drugs provide an enormous amount of income to many powerful people who have the govt. in their pockets. That's how the real world works.

Portugal has the 17th oldest population in the world, Median age is about 44. Almost 20% of the population is over 60.

It has the 217th lowest birth rate in the world, with 1.4 children per woman.

Portugal is over 90% White European.

Lifetime HARD Drug use is up 5% since the decriminalization.

Drug-related disease like Hepatitis are sky high, the highest in Europe, and have increased since legalization. The kicker is that lifetime addicts now reaching middle age are dying of heart attacks and other health conditions brought on by this, just not of the direct overdose. So there's a lot of nuance here.

The architect of the plan, Dr. Gulao, has a 40 something niece with schziophrenia and a long history of drug use, which gets to the heart of the problem.

A youth bulge happened in Europe generally in the 1960s - their Baby Boom corresponded to our Generation Jones (Late Boomer)/Early X. Consequently, they had their drug heyday in the 80s and 90s rather than the 70s and 80s like the USA did.

Europe has a declining, aging, maladaptive civilization which has more to do with the drop in drug use than policy.

As Gulao himself noted:

Decriminalization is not a silver bullet,” he said. “If you decriminalize and do nothing else, things will get worse."

Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it, SFBA and Seattle.

You’ll plummet US into a fucking drug induced anarchy. And than you’ll need billions to fix those stupid druggie fucks.

I don't know H.W. Bush made damn sure Crack was as plentiful it may as well had been legal.
It scared the rest of us straight watching the Chickenheads and Bugeyes.
We were pretty drug free until G.W. Bush freed up the Poppy flow, destroyed the Cocaine manufacturing supply chain, and Obama made a healthcare plan that hooked everyone on Opiates.

Getting rid of Coke or at least making it pure crap, was crucial for stringing a generation of addicts out on Opioids. Cocaine came along in the late 70's and destroyed the Heroin trade, even before Bush brought it in Wholesale.

Yup. Psyops psychopaths infiltrated the black movements of the 60's and 70's and defeated them with narcotics and coke. Didn't need to bring too many down in a hail of bullets when they self administered themselves into the dirt bath. A lot died on the streets of Oakland with crack pipes in their hands. All of the LSD and psychedelics were dumped into the college campuses and political movements almost overnight. I don't think Phil Lesh ever came close to going to jail.

We have an opioid epidemic? One of the best ways to subvert and disorganize a society is to make the avenues of drug distribution plentiful. Do you think there isn't a method to the madness of sanctuary cities (aka drug dealer free enterprise zones)? Cow and disorganize the populous with addiction and fake promises.

If something is masquerading as morality, compassion or altruism, with a flowery name, to beguile the foolish, the free shitters, or the wishful thinking ostriches, it likely exists for a baleful purpose.

That's 22% over 65.
Only 19% under 18.

WOW!

Meanwhile, Colorado is experiencing a rise in violent and property crimes since legalizing marijuana in 2014, and steadily enacting California/Seattle style decriminalization generally: Violent crime in Colorado is now higher than 15 years ago.

Just because it works in an aged, decrepit, homogenous old EuroLeft State does not mean it will work in the USA.

How does that track with CO's establishment of sanctuary cities?

This and also stopping prosecution for minor crimes because WHITEFUCKINGMALESOPPRESS might have more to do with crime rise than decriminalization.
Also, Basel canton (or city) decriminalized drug use in 90's, and property crime rate dropped by 60+%.
And finally, the $100M question is - does Government own my body and if not, why Government should be able to tell me what substances I can consume. Start with drugs, next is Bloomberg with 0.5 oz sodas, etc.

Why don't we? Because we are not insane. Yet.

OK if we lighten gun restrictions and expand stand your ground. I've seen what Pillheads, Junkies and Whores that can operate in the streets of a middle class neighborhood with impunity. I went through two years of it, when Scott Israel took over the Hollywood Police department, and refused to lock up any Violent Thug Pimp, The Drug Dealers, and the Sleaze Scum whores.

The very next day after the City commissioners were fired and the new ones then scrapped the BSO contract. The Drug House across the street got raided and closed down. Haven't seen a whore, a junky, Pimp or dealer out in the open since then.

So yes legalize the Street Filth, but give self defense a much broader description. Fuck I would even say give awards and prizes for best trophies.
