Some politicians are so anti-Trump that they reflexively take positions opposite of Trump's, no matter has stupid that makes them look. Trump has been using this weakness politically.

I didn't get a chance to see Tuesday's democratic "debate," but I'm planning on watching Wednesday. As feisty and hilarious as Tuesday was, Wednesday is going to be a real clown show. All the "debaters" will be clamoring to take positions more extremely opposite of Trump's. I can hardly imagine how Wednesday's contestants can top giving illegal aliens free healthcare and free college.

I assume the eventual nominee will step down slightly from the crazy, but republicans should be able to have a field day scaring the voters! (If only the media would share the crazy details.)

Those old buildings do look charming


Those buildings look like they have charm and good bones. What would stop enterprising individuals from rehabbing those buildings? Local "connected" owner collecting subsidies? Very high property taxes on improved assessments? Very high crime area?

Lack of law enforcement limits what people will pay to live there. The rehab costs exceed this limit. For example, if the house fully rehabbed is only worth 30-35K, are you going to spend more then that to rehab it? Seriously, I live in a much better neighborhood that the pictures, but still could only get maybe 55K for my house.

I stopped calling the police years ago, since they never bothered showing up.

Yes, but poverty, police no-go-zones, rampant crime and drug addiction, and decayed infrastructure is no excuse for not having expensive tennis shoes and cigarettes.

Plus, all those selfless lawyers working hard and getting wealthy from police encounters. Now, the citizens have the right to be mugged, raped, robbed, set upon by drug crazed whackos etc. with no police response at all. Hope they appreciate the rights the lawyer lottery got them.

In my neighborhood as long as you aren't involved in the drug trade and pretty much keep to yourself, you are only subject to car break-ins and burglaries. To minimize car break-ins I don't park on the street on a Friday or Saturday night, or if the street lights are out. Normally I park behind my house in a gated yard that I keep locked. In so far as preventing burglaries, in my neighborhood one simply can't break into the front or back doors without being seen. That is a huge deterrent to that and I think it never happens. The only place where one can really break into these houses is through the basement door, since anyone can go up to it and not be seen by anyone and kick in the door. You can't kick in my door. Plus there is the whole locked and gated fence keeping you from easily transporting anything significant away easily. It's not that one can't break into my house of one really wants to. I've just made it significantly more difficult to do so than pretty much all of my neighbors that nobody is going to do it unless they think I have information that would lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton.

I'm in one of the whitest parts of town. It's the neighborhood kids that are the problem in my area. I don't even need good locks, they don't know how to pick even the cheap Kwickset ones. If they want in, they are breaking down your door, and my reinforced storm security door will pretty much prevent that. That, and if kids were to break into a house, they are just going to use it do mostly do drugs, and there are plenty of houses with nobody living in them that they would prefer to break into instead.

I heard some MSM announcer state that Mr. Cummings' district is "diverse." Actually, it isn't. It's distinctly not diverse. Some 80% of 1 race, 18% of another, and 2% of a whole bunch of others combined. Contrast that with Silicon Valley, where no race is more than about 30%.

Another thing... the announcer seemed to imply that "diverse" is good without giving any indication of why.

Probably Atlanta, but I’ve never been there so I can’t say for sure. A friend that did visit told me it’s the most racist place he has ever experienced.

Inglewood, CA is on the verge of being a great place due in large part to rising real estate values because of its proximity to LA’s west side, but it’s no longer majority black anyway(it’s majority Latino, though blacks are a close 2nd).
