...is sports. Tell me how I'm wrong. At least where moral meritocracy is concerned.
You’re wrong.
The only sports a poor disadvantaged kid could excel at without help from a parent are basketball and football. And that’s if someone paid their school activity fee and bought them shoes.
Baseball wouldn’t be too bad except that kids with dads who practice with them do much better than other kids.
The rest of them mostly cost too much, especially hockey, golf, tennis, skiing, rowing, etc etc etc.
Most of the sports are still dependent on money and parents with money or time/desire to get involved.

The problem is no two businesses actually do business the same way. There's an art to know how to provide Enterprise solutions for a company. You don't learn that in Computer Science Classes. Well they do teach requirement gathering. But if you're not careful it turns into a Democracy and the dumbest ideas end up winning, if you don't have the experience to tell them upfront the detrimental problems to going down that path.
