#brexitBRITAIN A Difficult Divorce Just after she declared that her cabinet accepted a draft scheme for Britain’s exit of the European Union, British Prime Minister Theresa May is facing a revolt that could well result in her own ouster.
On Wednesday evening, May said her ministers had accepted the draft proposal but by 10:30 the next morning two cabinet ministers and three junior members of her government had resigned. Soon afterward, Conservative Member of Parliament Jacob Rees-Mogg had called for her to step down and make way for her erstwhile Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, the Sun reported.
All but one of those who resigned were Brexiteers, CNN reported. Their objections ranged from Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab’s worry about the indefinite backstop to avoid a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland to more general concerns that the draft agreement surrenders too much control to the EU, including the prospect of staying in a customs union indefinitely.
Defiant, May on Thursday changed her long-held position that Brexit is inevitable, saying, “We can choose to leave with no deal, we can risk no Brexit at all, or we can choose to unite and support the best deal that can be negotiated.”
Brexit is done all they need is a DJT of their own, like Boris Johnson for instance to be elected as PM to tell the EU to fuck off Theresa May made the worst deal in the history of deals and break what ever deal she made.
Yes it can be done, yes Liberals will cry worldwide, but most sane Humans wont give three shits about their Feelz.
Just leave. Any disagreement defaults to the WTO, who takes a dim view of punitive measures by member states.
Somebody said "This is the Divorce Deal".
When you get a divorce, typically your ex-spouse doesn't get to determine what you can and can't buy on Amazon. Nor do they get a court order forbidding you from buying from any place but EUshop.com. Nor does your ex-spouse have the right to come over your farm and fish in your pond anytime they like.
As for a second Referendum, that's not Democracy, there are no do-overs. Neoliberals and the EU are fond of having "Re-votes" on various Treaties until they get the result they want, which is declared final and no more referendums are allowed. There was just one a couple of years ago, not 20 years ago.
I don't understand why this Brexit thing is so complicated.Just post a declaration of independence to the EU. Look ... Here's one already written for you! Just copy and paste and change it a little:
There was already a referendum just two years ago and Remain lost.
This was not an EU Treaty election where they pester a country every 2-3 years until they vote "Yes" to more EU powers, and then suddenly that is the final vote.
The EU desperately needs Britain partially in to be the wealthy economic sucker (70Bn Euro Trade Deficit with the EU) and to "Punish" it for having the temerity to leave their Eurocrat wise masters' rule.
How would it be functionally different from the referendum just two years ago when the EU and Neoliberal Multinationals spent huge sums and still lost.
It's also a hoot watching the same Remoaners who celebrated Obama, Merkel, etc. opine in 2016 about the EU being so wonderful, Obama coming IN PERSON to pimp the EU, but flip out over a Trump-on-the-way-to-the-Helicopter remark about Brexit being good.
She was just forced by her own Party to publish the legal advice that confirms everything Brexiteers have said: That the Norn Iron Backstop, Customs Union, etc. are all permanent conditions that prevent the UK from negotiating any new deals with anybody else unless (and IF, there's no timetable) the EU decides its squeezed enough and will let Britain go. Already Macron was insisting that France access UK's Nautical EEZ permanently as a condition of leaving (Fisheries) and retain the ban on US Chicken and other Agra goods (limiting the UK to buying expensive, inefficient European Food)
And for all of it, the UK will have to pay 40B Pounds to become a German Colony.
This isn't Brexit.
Her Cabinet Ministers were found in contempt of Parliament by their own Party.
Yet the BBC and the Open Borders Press insists the Customs Deal is A-OK, even when French, Dutch, Irish, and German pols are promising their own heavily subsidized fishermen Britain won't be out of the EU until the UK signs over it's national fisheries to the 4th Reich, permanently.
This Tuesday, we'll learn if the EU will Rule Britannia, or if it's a Straight Brexit, where any penalizing of the UK will come with counter-punishment for WTO rule breaking EU countries.
We will never allow the UK to be like Denmark or Ireland, where Referendums are ignored or get a do-over until Brussels gets the answer it wants to hear (in which case that is the final referendum, the NO vote doesn't count and no 2 out of 3).
